Sometimes life feels like the flared froth of the longest wave
Like I’m living in chaos, spinning round and round to my grave
Caught up in the bubbled surface of simply too much turbulence
Believing myself lost within the newest, loudest disturbance
It is then that I most need to find my way to serenity’s peace
This is where I have always sought solitude and release
Out here just where the surf is caught as it is breaking
Out here where dreams are born in a moment of making
There in the calm just before catching my tubular ride
I feel the peace descend and restore my breath inside
In that moment I know beyond knowing that as I’m growing
I catch the buzz that is the essence of life and it’s showing
I’ve seen enough photographs for me to know my place
Out there on the waves with a God given smile on my face
