First Principles: America’s Should Always Be An Attitude of Thankfulness For All of the Blessings God Has Granted

“I do recommend and assign [this Thanksgiving Day] to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be.” – George Washington

I, for one among many, often get quite tired of reading and hearing the Left speak of George Washington as being a Deist and not really believing in God let alone an active God.  It’s as though they haven’t bothered to read one word he wrote or anything quoted as him having said.

So that others have reason to know the evidence, I often quote his words.  Among these is those in his first Proclamation of Thanksgiving:

The current Thanksgiving Day observance was put into place by Abraham Lincoln (another great man whose reputation for being a believer is imputable despite those who try to claim otherwise):
