Based in part on Exodus 20:17:
The Temptation of Wanting Another's Share by Michael Doyle It's hard to be content in comparison Always measuring yourself on what is done By others when your race is your own Only to be run in service of God's throne Coveting what others have or what they do Is not what measures the better for you But keeping your heart on your own satisfaction Is in truth always the wise course of action All other sin stems from wanting the other That which is had by your sister and brother It is best to keep your eyes on your reverence Keeping your soul safe in the assent of providence It was this that tempted Eve's pleasure As the serpent offered forbidden treasure Eve succumbed in her deep desire for more Placing her baited hand upon sin's final door Instead of being as Eve in her discontentment Be instead like Paul in his rich contentment Keeping ourselves well and happy in your share There then is truly no need to fall for that snare Just set your heart on the truest star And you'll find in faith God takes you that far You need look no further than that And that my friends is just a natural fact (c) June 17, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
