Is silence really the best answer at times? I am not so certain of this.
In Your Silent Reply by Michael Doyle Haunted by all the dreams Filled with the dramatic scenes Wondering what it is to find All the things that play on the mind Things that a heart would keep No matter how many tears we weep Is the price paid too steep The priceless doesn't come cheap Pointless pride leads to more Scarred emotions bleed to war In a force of might against might We come to the point prepared to fight Greed for more has led us to here And yet somehow, you expect me to cheer We tend to keep the special near Perhaps to cushion us in our fear Lost in all our decisions made Cards that were perhaps less than well played There are some losses that won't erase Despite the wished for miracles we embrace Conversations blurred into the dark Are chipped in fine point as if in lark Yet, we burn the pages of our mystery Wishing for one moment to forget our history If the written words cannot be kept in head Maybe there's no reason to hold onto the dead Wouldn't it be something ...with no more tears to cry? There is a smell of fear in your silent reply (c) July 22, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
