Mickey Said To Minnie
By Michael Doyle
When the world fades right out of view
It’s the fate of how it is that I met you.
It wasn’t like I was wishing on a star
But there it is, and there you are
The words seem to have their own flow
As if it is that there is something to show
How a simple hello can make into a dream
Like a moment from the silver screen
How now, can you tell me,
I know it wouldn’t kill me
And I might even find a smile
By answering a beautiful misdial
And now it seems, I’d love to hear a voice
That is if it is ever mine to get the choice
To hear the laugh in your eyes
Miss Minnie, I might yet recognize
How it’s semi-kinda something sacred in place
A rhythm as it is in its own time and space
The gentle hello that blends its own kind of wonder
And maybe there’s a touch of grace in this thunder
Jumping from the shadows into the digital light
Some kind of spark that vibrates in my night
It seems that sometimes things just work as they should
Fitting right into place as if something good
How now, can you tell me,
I know it wouldn’t kill me
And I might even find a smile
By answering a beautiful misdial
And now it seems, I’d love to hear a voice
That is if it is ever mine to get the choice
To hear the laugh in your eyes
Miss Minnie, I might yet recognize
