Agroforestry Dues

Agroforestry Dues
by Michael Doyle

Brazilian toil,
Brazilian biodiversity.
The modern ages have been disloyal,
But the people fight against adversity.

The heart of this
Is the Amazon Rainforest.
The samba beat cannot miss
As this green ocean fights to resist.

Atmospheric rivers float the skies,
The mists of irrigation before your eyes.
The heart of our planet's known connections,
Everything of life and nature flows in all directions.

It becomes necessary that we understand.
The Amazon and the Cerrado flow across unplanned,
While deforestation is destroying the land.
Soybeans and corn are the ruinous demand.

The soy frontier creates this vulnerability,
To the control point, the tired have no ability.
We must balance agriculture and make it viable,
The Amazon's peoples fight for their lands as able.

Replanting forests preserves biodiversity.
It's what the people can do within their ability.
The carbon market rebirths a way to live.
It saves lives and has proven lucrative.

Agroforestry is a better way of growing
The food we need while humbly knowing
That bringing back carbon and abundance
The Brazilian way helps feed the world in resplendence.
