Open Questions of Opportunity

Open Questions of Opportunity
by Michael Doyle

A landscape of soy and corn
Is grown and has become replete.
In it, a different paradigm is born,
One rejecting the smaller portions of beef.

There is an unhealthiness in the equation.
Leaner foods could redeem the soil and feed the nation.
Instead, we choose the Omega Six over Omega Three.
Doing this, we accidentally choose the inflammatory.

We butcher our way into the unhealthy
And forget our lives were born to be happy.
It comes to a question of life's quality,
And to open up questions of opportunity.

Somewhere on the path of ranching technology
The decision was made to be like a factory.
There something to being more than the cow.
The good and bad of it comes down to the how.

You can go on uncultured by the numbers of science,
But sooner or later, it bothers your conscience.
It kills the pastures to ranch by overgraze,
Poly-cultural farming will give us better days.

We butcher our way into the unhealthy
And forget our lives were born to be happy.
It comes to a question of life's quality,
And to open up questions of opportunity.
