Paradiso - Candles Before the Mirrored Portal
Rituals
by Michael Doyle

Rituals
Taken in sequence
Protect us from harm
Visuals
Seemingly in coincidence
Have their illustrious charms

Every step taken
To shake the forsaken
To hunt or to be hunted
Head on the swivel; fear blunted

To move beyond first base
A destiny to embrace
Caught in a game of flow
Moving past the undertow

Read
Beyond the commentaries
Are the words that must be heard
Red
Death hides in cemeteries
When good and evil are blurred

There are ashes churning
In these lessons we're learning
The turns are coming fast
That move beyond the past

Lost religion has its taste
Lives of worth turned to waste
I'm still looking through the lies
Hunter turns to hunted; no surprise

Leading with a smile
As the thoughts defile
Betrayed with a kiss
What was left to miss?

Thought For the Day: As Man Depends Absolutely Upon His Maker For Everything, It Is Necessary That He Should In All Points Conform To His Maker’s Will

“As man depends absolutely upon his Maker for everything, it is necessary that he should in all points conform to his Maker’s will. This will of his Maker is called the law of nature. … This law of nature, being coeval [coexistent] with mankind and dictated by God Himself is, of course, superior in obligation to any other. It is binding over all the globe, in all countries, and at all times; no human laws are of any validity if contrary to this. … Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation, depend all human laws; that is to say, no human laws should be suffered [permitted] to contradict these.” – William Blackstone’s 1765 Commentaries on the Laws of England

First Principles: Of All the Dispositions and Habits Which Lead to Political Prosperity, Religion and Morality Are Indispensable Supports

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensible supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness — these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. … Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths…” – President George Washington (1796)

“There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.” – James Madison (1788)

Finding A Seat At the Table

Mysterious Paradise - Banyan Way
Finding A Seat At the Table
by Michael Doyle

Finding a seat at the table
Such as it is and the best we're able
Begins with a story of circumstance
In which every effort acts to enhance

The dreams that come in planting trees
The roots of which are in what we please
To achieve, overcome, and inspire
And in so doing, set the world on fire

Believing in the power of change
As butterfly wings spread to rearrange
The entire world within a water drop
That brings its journey that cannot stop

Every woman and every man
Can bring a better life as all can
Every step is life that is taken
Should be taken with courage that cannot be shaken

This is the path that we must walk
Summoning the words needed as we talk
About channeling the joy needed
By two sides of the coin that we've pleaded

Planting the seeds under which we'll never sit
Passing on lessons never meant to forget
It's never in our nature to be fully satisfied
But when it's over, never let it be said that we never tried

Thought For the Day: Self-Defense Is A Part of the Law of Nature; Nor Can It Be Denied the Community, Even Against the King Himself

“Self-defense is a part of the law of nature; nor can it be denied the community, even against the king himself.” – William Barclay (1546-1608)

Clearly this is a long established principle that deserves being protected.

First Principles: A Sacred Respect For the Constitutional Law Is the Vital Principle, the Sustaining Energy of A Free Government

“If it be asked, What is the most sacred duty and the greatest source of our security in a Republic? The answer would be, An inviolable respect for the Constitution and Laws — the first growing out of the last. … A sacred respect for the constitutional law is the vital principle, the sustaining energy of a free government.” – Alexander Hamilton (1794)
