Room Read

Holiday Isle Shops - Krampus Reads From the Book of Life
Room Read
by Michael Doyle

It's hard to make a room read
Especially when I'm the hero no one needs
But there's something to be said
For all the nonsense that we're fed

Nobody is that special anymore
I wonder if we ever were even before
No one needs the extraordinary ordinary
When we all wish for something legendary

Dreams of the future serve as reflection
Who knows what will bring connection
With all the heaviness of gravity
It's a moment like this that calls for levity

I'm rarely serious but I am now
In hoping that we all muddle through somehow
With the garbage in which we wade
We lay waste to the plans we've made

It's funny, the things bringing us together
All the differences that make us better
All checkpoints that can't be checked
Is it any wonder our universe isn't more wrecked?

First Principles: Of All the Dispositions and Habits Which Lead To Political Prosperity, Religion and Morality Are Indispensable Supports

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensible supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness — these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. … Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths…” – President George Washington (1796)

Face To Face

Wind River -Chasing His Tail On Main Street
Face To Face
by Michael Doyle

Coming face to face
With my mortality
I'll be never be
Just another fatality

Let there be no doubting
That I'll go out shouting
Grabbing on as hard as I can
I live to be that kind of man

Gonna, gonna hit it!
You know that I'll
Never quit it!
If you think so
You'd better forget it
Cause
I'm gonna, gonna hit it

It is a serious fight
That much, you've got right
But I've seen the morning light
And I'm good for yet another fight

You might think I'm blind
But look again, I think you'll find
Don't talk to me of animus or history
Raising the Devil, is no great mystery

Gonna, gonna hit it!
You know that I'll
Never quit it!
If you think so
You'd better forget it
Cause
I'm gonna, gonna hit it!

Rocking hard and solid
I'm gonna blow my lid
With a tight shot, forget me not
Living the only clue I got

Twisted and turned
Bleeding out as I've learned
I reach for all that is within
Starting from the top again

Gonna, gonna hit!
You know I'll
Never quit it!
If you think so
You'd better forget it
Cause
I'm gonna, gonna hit it!

It sounds better with the guitar work behind it. But I don’t know how to get this properly recorded onto this format.

In the Process of Confession

St John Orthodox Christian Church Monastery - Mosaic of Confession
In the Process of Confession
by Michael Doyle

Keeping reality and the Bible in context
Is a paradigm that constantly corrects
To keep truest meaning in its place
Throughout our lives, it's a truth to embrace

God answers prayers in His time
To do otherwise would be a crime
Each answer must come when it is due
If the right answer is going to come to you

Even in exile, we must pray for the best
Believing in truth is the real, final test
God's promises are certain but not always immediate
Sometimes life plays out as we remediate

At times, darkness comes to bring light
We must keep faith in the Lord to make this right
It's the process of keeping the promise
Sometimes life comes at you and it is what it is

Failing to the bottom to yet rise again
These are the times we find Jesus is our friend
The helping hand to bring us to that rise
To come up and through to our pleasant surprise

The hurt we experience can help others
If for nothing else, as lessons, for one another
There is a pardon given in our forgiveness
If we will only wise up and live this

When we press on broken glass, we bleed
From every thought and feeling germinates the seeds
Bringing that everything that we truly need
We can cipher this truth in the good book that we read

Full circle in our mangled, messy process
Is the truth of our lives that we confess
The Father above gave the life of His Son
So that we might be forgiven and our damage done

Ending in prayer that is sorely needed
In hope that grace and redemption is heeded
There is a victory at the foot of the cross
That brings us hope and never our loss

Thought For the Day: The Main Thing Is To Have A Soul That Loves the Truth and Harbours It Where He Finds It

“The main thing is to have a soul that loves the truth and harbours it where he finds it. And another thing: truth requires constant repetition, because error is being preached about us all the time, and not only by isolated individuals but by the masses. In the newspapers and encyclopedias, in schools and universities, everywhere error rides high and basks in the consciousness of having the majority on its side.” – German novelist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832)

Truth doesn’t need a consensus. It needs only one to find it and say it to others so that they too can spread their wings through creation and innovation. This is the path forward. When we seek the majority’s opinions what is usually found is how often the majority are incorrect.
