In A Dissonance Theory

Southern Magic - Magnolia Mansion At Dusk
In A Dissonance Theory
by Michael Doyle

What if...
What if is the beginning
As good as any beginning
Or so it often seems
The waking is stuff of dreams
And dreams bring as much truth
As that which we are told
All the bill of goods that we are sold
And...

What if...
What if those we have lost
Have a point made in their cost
Like rooms left to explore
And maybe just a bit more
As we look deeply inside
To the discomfort that we hide
Yet... without any real success
So many questions left to address

Here in this dissonance theory
Is the chaos of paradigms
Each chooses as if personal history
Pressurized into personal diamonds
That create our conceptions of worth
Without ever knowing our real worth
As if our lives might be panned
Or to be lived out like live stream on demand
And ... made to order as we wish

What if...
What if we create our own illusions
And the outside world is just the intrusion
Of the illusions of others in that flow
Who create without knowing that they know
The maze to freedom is within
Where "what if" is where we truly begin
It seems a thing of things is our own creation
And to be set free, we are limited only by our imaginations

Thought For the Day: Excellence Demands Competition

“Excellence demands competition. Without a race there can be no champion, no records broken, no excellence — in education or in any other walk of life.” – Ronald Reagan

First Principles: Without Morals, A Republic Cannot Subsist For Any Length of Time

“Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time. They therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure and which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.” – Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence

Comfort Zone Christianity

Distant Edge - Hideiki Lighthouse On A Cliff
Comfort Zone Christianity
by Michael Doyle

It's always seemed to lightly
How we fail to take things rightly
In our comfort zone Christianity
Failing to take on things needed by you and me

To the best of our capacity
We take up baptism in accountability
Repentance to the God who walks among us
In the sacredness we know just because

We need to take on the robes of immersion
A measure of weeding away the chaff in conversion
Putting away the ways of the world to follow
Where only those who hold to the sacred can go

Come make your needed recommitment
Into the ways of holy devotion in this sacrament
Holy angels sing over us before we are born
Now this is the day to awaken in this morn

Beginning as it is the never ending
Reborn not for comfort but in service not pretending
Giving our selves to take up the holy yoke
By reverently taking on the words the Lord has spoke

Thought For the Day: All Great Human Deeds Both Consume and Transform Their Doers

“All great human deeds both consume and transform their doers. Consider an athlete, or a scientist, or an artist, or an independent business creator. In the service of their goals they lay down time and energy and many other choices and pleasures; in return, they become most truly themselves.”– Lois McMaster Bujold, author (b. 2 Nov 1949)
