First Principles: The Foundations of Our National Policy Will Be Laid In the Pure and Immutable Principles of Private Morality

“The foundations of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality, and the preeminence of free government be exemplified by all the attributes which can win the affections of its citizens, and command the respect of the world.” – George Washington, First Inaugural Address, 1789

On Immersion

White Cliffs of Dover - Soul Sacrifice
On Immersion
by Michael Doyle

Baptism is the symbolic immersion
To speak to the joy of conversion
This the way forward in progression
Washing away our sins and perversions

Sin entered the world through the tree
The knowledge of good and evil spoken to you and me
Bringing the chasm in broken relationship
Until we make right our ways in worship

There is no way to build or earn
The restoration we need to discern
The ways of holiness to be without sin
Until the price is paid by Christ's bridge again

Grace received if we are to ever take
The right decisions we all need to make
The steps back from the pit of burning Hell
A place for the Devil, where demons dwell

Baptism cleans us of our lack of certainty
A cleansing path back to ways of purity
Knowing our disappointments and our failing
Back on the journey of God's will prevailing

“There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.” – James Madison (1788)

Reflections on Dorian Gray, Pt. IX: Released From This Evil

Jersey Shore -Boardwalk Rides
Reflections on Dorian Gray, Pt IX: Released From this Evil
by Michael Doyle

A chain smoked cigar puffed on to make amends
Between two estranged who had once been friends
To be young again and to set sail into the dawn
Until one realizes it best to let these days be gone

Death comes at the hand of unruly emotions
Regardless of discipline nor deep-seated devotion
The rapier nicks the neck bleeding Dorian's evil
Practicing the preaching of an un-feared Devil

An old friend sees through the charade of devastation
Held in the clutch of stronghanded near strangulation
Setting at last the portrait on its blaze of hellfire
Just prior to locking up Dorian in his wanton desires

Even such a god will welcome the freedom of his own death
As by evil transformed, he takes his last bitter breath
The toys in the damnable beast play in this dark attic
And know the tears of wishes met with a force so tragic

These locked away as they are in a gothic mansion's cage
Are the ways put aside as cardinal sins beyond sloth and rage
No longer sworn as willingly as an oath to that crimson Devil
Dorian is at last released from his enslavement to his evil

First Principles: If the Provisions of the Constitution Can Be Set Aside By An Act of Congress, Where Is the Course of Usurpation To End?

“If the provisions of the Constitution can be set aside by an Act of Congress, where is the course of usurpation to end? The present assault upon capital is but the beginning. It will be but the stepping-stone to others, larger and more sweeping, till our political contests will become a war of the poor against the rich; a war growing in intensity and bitterness.” – Justice Stephen J. Field (1816-1899)

Thought For the Day: The Most Intense Conflicts…Are Needed To Produce Valuable and Lasting Results

“The most intense conflicts, if overcome, leave behind a sense of security and calm that is not easily disturbed. It is just these intense conflicts, and their conflagration, which are needed to produce valuable and lasting results.” – C. G. Jung

Reflections On Dorian Gray, Pt VIII: Reality’s Seams

Diavolo Spooky Spookplace - Toyz In the Attic
Reflections On Dorian Gray, Pt VIII: Reality's Seams
by Michael Doyle

There on that snow fallen black of night
In an alley filled with guilt's blight
Dorian fears the tell of tongue wagged tale
That pursues him to the gates of Hell

There are dreadful things that he has done
In the corruption lived since this has begun
In the end there will the that final price
One that should not be paid by the innocently nice

The creeper creeps like a dead rat caught
In the traps of something he never sought
A cage of darkness has become his only friend
As he finds his decrepit truth in the end

To a priest, he implores his confession of sin
Knowing that his mortal sin cannot be cleansed again
The stretch of a soul caught in its putrification
There is nothing to help in death's intoxication

Chased into the tunnel of a dimly lighted subway
Saved by the train's tracks in their final say
An innocent man curses Dorian on the edge of death
Even as his penny eyes takes his last, final breath

Fleeing to goodness and light in ungentle intrusion
Dorian whispers his fears in a passing of delusion
To be not alone but with her beside the warm fire
It's as if evil itself did quietly act to conspire

A distraught man who has become himself a father
Looks on forlorn in concern about his beloved daughter
Noticing in Dorian something ghastly and strange
The truth of deceptively never having to ever change

The gusty winds flow their chill of ancient danger
As the father demands that Dorian stay a stranger
Wanting only to find his way toward beginning again
Far away from London where he is chained to his sin

In closeness to her innocence, he hopes for purity
As he flees from past choices and his tarnished history
A kiss away moment grasped lustily by the burning fire
Dorian finds she's the found the secret key to his desire

Locked away behind and old and dusty closed attic door
She finds what she cannot ever hope to see no more
As he wakes to find it was only some hellish sort of dream
Yet somehow, it was more real than reality's seams

“But the fact being once established, that the press is impotent when it abandons itself to falsehood, I leave to others to restore it to its strength, by recalling it within the pale of truth.” – Thomas Jefferson (1805)
