Six String Guillotine

The Blarney Stone - Guitarhero Dougall - In this River
Six String Guillotine
by Michael Doyle

It was a six string
Guillotine
Summer scene
Kind of a dream
Rolling through the night

The pompadour
Who held the door
That no one could ignore
Set the flames licking the Troubador
And said it would be alright

Struck by the thunder
Being pulled under
By a solid wall of sound
Until we chased it around
Rocking into that night

People stopped to stare
There was music everywhere
Coming down loudly
As we beat it together proudly
Our fists pumping in the air

It was a six string
Guillotine
Summer Scene
Kind of a dream
Rocking through the night

If I Have More to Live

Pemberly Shores Revisited - Catch of Driftwood

If I Have More to Live
by Michael Doyle

If I have more to live
I would live it with you
If I have more love to give
My love, I would love you

If I get to live any more
I want to live those days
With you and then some more
Learning all of your ways

If I might see your smile once again
When you see me as I come in
Living as we do, lovers and friends
It would be a life I would never end

If we might share one more kiss
As I find you in my arms as I do
I would know again what I will miss
If I do not see this day complete with you

For as it seems after all of the years
You are as real as one day I dreamed
And I say with a half smile behind hidden tears
Thank you for being all that you have seemed

First Principles: The Instability of Our Laws Is Really An Immense Evil

“The instability of our laws is really an immense evil. I think it would be well to provide in our constitutions that there shall always be a twelve-month between the ingross-ing a bill & passing it: that it should then be offered to its passage without changing a word: and that if circum-stances should be thought to require a speedier passage, it should take two thirds of both houses instead of a bare majority.” – Thomas Jefferson, Letter to James Madison, 1787

First Principles: We Have Therefore To Resolve To Conquer Or Die

“We have therefore to resolve to conquer or die: Our own Country’s Honor, all call upon us for vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world.”  – George Washington

Thought For the Day: The Television, That Insidious Beast…Which Freezes A Billion People To Stone Every Night…That Siren Which Called And Sang and Promised So Much and Gave…So Little

“The television, that insidious beast, that Medusa which freezes a billion people to stone every night, staring fixedly, that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little.” – Ray Bradbury, science-fiction writer (22 Aug 1920-2012)
