How Many Wrong Turns

Lawst Paradise - The Spin of A Well Spun Web
How Many Wrong Turns
by Michael Doyle

How many wrong turns
Can we believers take
Before each of us learns
The truth beyond our heartbreaks

That God's word can stabilize
When all around us starts to crumble
Until, that is, we realize
The necessity of keeping humble

In this nation, our oneness is lost
And the calamities spill out at length
As we continue to suffer uncertain costs
The conflict and distrust has sapped our strength

It causes us to cry out for the wisdom
That only the scriptures can truly bring
As we set our eyes on His holy kingdom
And lift our voices up high to sing

What then what can the righteous do
Staring at the tatters of our foundation
But to remember God's words and our traditions
As the Lord walks every step with me and you

Through the Years

Invictus - Illuminating Lessons From the Past
Through the Years
by Michael Doyle

Silently in my day to day
I live just as I pray
Needing a miracle some way
Knowing that at least God will stay

Every step grows my walk
Taking my soul beyond talk
Into the power of my emotions
Every lesson strengthens my devotion

Needing some inside information
To get me through this earthly devastation
Learning that you are my destination
Accepting at last, your invitation

In you, I have found salvation
True to the truth of your explanation
Having two ears, I needed to hear
The beauty you've taught me through the years

Thought For the Day: Conscience Is A Man’s Compass, and Though the Needle Sometimes Deviates… One Must Still Try To Follow Its Direction

“Conscience is a man’s compass, and though the needle sometimes deviates, though one often perceives irregularities when directing one’s course by it, one must still try to follow its direction.” – Vincent van Gogh, painter (1853-1890)

First Principles: If Congress Can Do Whatever In Their Discretion Can Be Done By Money, and Will Promote the General Welfare, the Government Is No longer A Limited One, Possessing Enumerate Powers

“If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.” – James Madison (1792)

What’s In A Poem But Words

Foxxies Romantic Ballroom -Sunrise In Your Eyes
What's In A Poem But Words
by Michael Doyle

What's in a poem but words you say
They can be written in many a way
All it takes is the heart behind the thoughts
And to feel the flow of the shoulds and oughts

When you are poetry revealed in motions
There are no elixirs or types of magic potions
Just the courage to lend enough expression
To let it flow as you give your impression

Of things heard and more akin to felt
It's the things that make the heart melt
Or the fire inside that cannot be stilled
Until your pen or keyboard has revealed

That something deep inside of you
That has feeling kind of the same way I do
And you have to find a way to let it out
So you write, you sing, you whisper and shout

About those things you love a little or heaps
And the words inside come out in poetic leaps
As you look back in time to the deepest time
Like when my heart met you and it came out in a...

rhyme.

First Principles: Far From Being Rivals or Enemies, Religion and Law Are Twin Sisters, Friends, and Mutual Assistants

“Far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters, friends, and mutual assistants. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other. The divine law, as discovered by reason and the moral sense, forms an essential part of both.” – James Wilson

Through the Eyes of Love

Through the Eyes of Love
by Michael Doyle

Through the eyes of love I see you
Dreaming of things we've grown
To become and what it is we do
What the future holds is shown

In the way that you touch my hand
And how you kiss a smile on my face
Wonderland is something I understand
It's in your heart and mind, not a place

There in the traces that you and I embrace
Is the magic that brings love to light
Shining as it does and leaving its sweet trace
Bringing peace to my morning and night

This year that we have had while together
Has been one that brings us closer in heart
It seems things can probably only get better
Though we have been close from the start

I look ahead to the years we'll quietly find
In each other's arms and walking the distance
Until our lives become even more entwined
A love like ours only knows its own insistence

Happiness like this is one of its own kind
Brought to me from you as you show you care
To miss the sweetness of your love, I'd be blind
Promise your love forever, my lady so fair
