First Principles: It Is the Citizens Choice…Whether They Will Be Respectable and Prosperous, Or Contemptable and Miserable As A Nation

“It is … [the citizens] choice, and depends upon their conduct, whether they will be respectable and prosperous, or contemptable and miserable as a Nation. This is the time of their political probation; this is the moment when the eyes of the World are turned upon them.”- George Washington, Letter to the Governors, 1783

The All American Get Together

Velvet Design -As American As Mom & Apple Pie

The All American Get Together
by Michael Doyle

This world of ours has seen
What is called fairer weather
Busy as we are in simply being
And hoping things turn better

With Fourth of July coming soon
We are malcontent in preparation
Refusing to allow fears to call the tune
As we prepare for our celebration

Our glimmer of hope knows hesitation
With so many unknowns and then some
With no one to really answer the questions
Even good times have become cumbersone

Undaunted America pledges to carry on
For summer and the Fourth held reverent
The march by drumbeat carries itself on
And this year, we promise it to be different

Another Whispered Truth About Love

Ansa`fel - High Fantasy RP - Moon Willow Forest - The Solace of Good Words Shared
Another Whispered Truth About Love
by Michael Doyle

Listen very closely
Closely to me as I say this
Our love is our strength
It is not our weakness

It's a not so hidden
Sacred kind of truth
Held openly with hope
Burning from our youth

Though life often teaches us
How difficult times can be
This truth often reaches us
As we amble through hesitancy

Trying to find our way
Through the storms of darkness
That too often cloud our day
Love's grace will ease the harshness

That too often binds us
To the fears that hold us back
As each tear reminds us
It is only love that gives us what we lack

And Suddenly…

Circus by Cica Ghost - Straight Away, I Knew I Was In Trouble With This Clown
And Suddenly...
by Michael Doyle

And suddenly,
I was the guy on the floor
The pain in my chest
Too difficult to ignore

The daughters stood there
In frozen frames of time
Being brave despite their fear
Would daddy live to share another rhyme?

Dear Lord, don't let me die
I whispered softly with a sigh
Doing my best to be brave
Hopeful of those there meaning to save

An explosive sort of force
Feeling like fire in my chest
Reaching deep into my source
Only God's help would pass this test

Feeling sorry for my choices
Clinging closely to their voices
Praying to live to breathe another day
Holding close to my love in every way

Dear Lord, don't let me die
I whispered softly with a sigh
Doing my best to be brave
Defiantly pushing back from the grave

Knowing the truth of my mistakes
Breathing shallow but holding on
Feeling my heart's fibers break
Please, Dear Lord, don't let me be gone

Looking deeply into my daughters' eyes
Quietly begging God for one more chance
Speaking encouraging words that felt like lies
What I would give to see them to their prom dances

Dear Lord, don't let me die
I whispered softly with a sigh
Doing my best to be brave
Unready as all men aren't for the grave
