“When Alexander the Great visited Diogenes and asked whether he could do anything for the famed teacher, Diogenes replied: “Only stand out of my light.” Perhaps some day we shall know how to heighten creativity. Until then, one of the best things we can do for creative men and women is to stand out of their light.” – John W. Gardner, author and educator (8 Oct 1912-2002)
Without the world's imposed inhibitions You find life without so many limitations Waiting for you below the surface, we keep The sands of time as these start to seep
Pouring through our hands as these flow Is a new depth for each of us to know About ourselves and those we hold near The inner depths seen as these do appear
It is there that we find the dreams lurking If only we might peep inside and keep looking Pressing onward to the point where they reveal All the needed secrets that keep our souls still
Waiting and wondering sometimes in the worrying We find little need to do all this great deal of hurrying And there before the levee breaks is the dream Where the Big Easy merges into ocean serene

“There is no maxim in my opinion which is more liable to be misapplied, and which therefore needs elucidation than the current one that the interest of the majority is the political standard of right and wrong.” – James Madison (1786)
“The preservation of freedom is the protective reason for limiting and decentralizing governmental power. But there is also a constructive reason. The great advances of civilization, whether in architecture or painting, in science or in literature, in industry or agriculture, have never come from centralized government.” – Milton Friedman (1912-2006)
“Men of energy of character must have enemies; because there are two sides to every question, and taking one with decision, and acting on it with effect, those who take the other will of course be hostile in proportion as they feel that effect.” – Thomas Jefferson (1817)
Solid as it is with just a look 2020 was a hard one for the history books But, as those pages have turned There was one thing that I have learned
My love was born a Libra on her scale And it is one that weighs justice to prevail Ruled with a sense of unity and passion And dare I say, her love of fashion
Still, there is one more thing of which to speak And that is her insistence on a birthday week Spoken quietly of after a time of contemplation She reveals her strong desire and love of celebration
Now I have never been the kind to deny fun Yet, when it comes to a birthday, it seems there is but one Still, that seems agreeable enough in its simplicity And a request without any need for anxious complexity
We shall celebrate with much love and relaxation Her with her golden heart reflected in our connection And me with my mumbled words of love's sincerity It seems a birthday week is a great gift of easy clarity

“Is it not that in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? – that it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer’s mission upon earth? – that it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?” – John Quincy Adams
“We are not just flesh, bone and blood, we are human beings with souls. Our republic was formed on the basis that freedom is not a gift from government but that freedom is a gift from God!” – President Donald J. Trump
Heading out of Australia to escape this Aussie winter. First stop Japan, then UK/Ireland and if work doesn't call me back, onto Chicago. I will make it up as I go along
