Halloween: Daughters of Salem

Deadman's Island 2020 -Demon Sparks A Fire
Daughters of Salem
by Michael Doyle

In the misted realm of nightmares
Beyond the screens of our daily care
The daughters of Salem toss
In their graveyards of the crooked cross

Hidden tears masked by blood stains
That cannot wash away with the cold rains
Is the fear that lies beyond fear
Where the hounds of Hell persevere

Down the corridor to the locked room
Where past is present and we seal our doom
Are secrets we hide and dread to know
All for the sakes of the Lords of rock-n-roll

We make our unholy crypt beneath the skull
Trying as we can to resist the master's call
Watching in our minds as Autumn leaves fall
Praying to a God that we don't really know at all

Yet, God is always open to those seeking sanctuary
Yes, there is a war waging in this near mortuary
Some of Heaven's angels rage their rebellion
For the sake of Lucifer and his cohort of hellions

Broken wings are the the wages of your sin
You feel these tugging at you again and again
Calling out as you do for His saving mercy
While life pours out its bittersweet heresy

The darkness whispers of our waiting fate
That forms us more than the destiny we await
Ultimately then, we will find our voice
And dark or light, we will make our final choice

First Principles: Truth, Not the Word of Teachers

“Truth, not the word of teachers.” – James Madison

Veritas non verba magistri. James Madison’s seal used on his important documents. Loosely it means “Think for yourself.” I have chosen the stronger translation because in times when the NYT literally cheers that our President and First Lady have been stricken down by the Covid that he and she have bravely sought to put a calm face on for the rest of us. Not to spread any blasphemous rumors but given certain statements made by their enemies in the Left, I would not put it past eventually learning this was yet another effort to take him out. Just remember as I always say…In times of darkness, be the light.

Thought For the Day: We Are What We Repeatedly Do. Excellence, Then, Is Not An Act But A Habit

Climbing the Relationship Ladder

Climbing the Relationship Ladder
by Michael Doyle

We say hello to initiate
Hoping that we might appreciate
Enough at this first impression
That it might lead to accession

Pressing on simply to explore
Crossing that boundary to something more
We work at reducing the uncertainty
Though certainly there is no urgency

More of a survey than a poll
Wondering if we might have common goals
And if we do, we might dare to intensify
If we find enough in common to amplify

Our new partnership in its stages
As we begin turning each other's pages
Into that magical book of becoming one
Letting the locks to our hearts be undone

In correspondence, we do respond
As into each other, we do bond
Giving in more to each in concession
With each subtle move is made in succession

Integrating as we do into stability
In each other finding our reliability
That final coin having been tossed
We hope to find the benefits beyond the cost

Treating each other with leniency
To cut past the events of uncertainty
We bend to meet any unmet expectation
As together, we grow into our love's maturation

Thought For the Day: Leadership Is A Potent Combination of Strategy and Character. But, If You Must Be Without One, Be Without Strategy

First Principles: If By Liberty of the Press…It Means the Liberty of Affronting, Calumniating and Defaming One Another, I, For My Part, Own Myself Willing To Part With My Share of It

“If by the liberty of the press were understood merely the liberty of discussing the propriety of public measures and political opinions, let us have as much of it as you please: But if it means the liberty of affronting, calumniating and defaming one another, I, for my part, own myself willing to part with my share of it.” – Benjamin Franklin (1789)

The Way You Love Me

Garden of Eden -If I Were Adam, Would You Be My Eve?
The Way You Love Me
by Michael Doyle

Look another beautiful place
But none compares to your face
I love looking into your eyes
I guess that's no real surprise

Your beauty came without warning
How I'd want you each morning
And I can't do without your love
It's all that I keep thinking of

Your smile warms me to my bone
I'm so happy that you're my home
The way that you love me thrills me
I don't think I've ever been this happy
