Thought For the Day: A Man Should Never Be Ashamed To Own That He Has Been In the Wrong, Which Is But Saying, … That He Is Wiser Today Than Yesterday

“A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been in the wrong, which is but saying, in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.” – Alexander Pope (1688-1744)

To My Not So Anonymous Enemy

Don’t worry.  I have a pretty good idea who you are.   shrugs… Your game is all but washed out…Incidentally, if you think being an ocean apart somehow protects against slander and libel in an electronic communication, well, I guess I’m taking the surprise out of this, huh?

To My Not So Anonymous Enemy
by Michael Doyle

Stalking in the shadows
Play all the gossip of the you knows
Afraid to use your own voice to speak
Because the arguments you have are so weak

Warning others about made up fears
Playing the victim, through made up tears
The louder it seems the accusation
The greater is your impersonation

Of someone who really truly cares
More given to mocking sorts of stares
Lost in your own mirror of false relation
You are given to choruses of mocking jubilation

Waiting for any moment of any kind of stumble
Bent on making even the best falter and crumble
It's a fool's game that really stinks
Innuendo that proves nothing but makes one think

How much time do some have on their hands
To go about blackmailing with implied demands
That if she doesn't believe you in what you say
Don't cry to you if she gets played

While the honest man stares back blankly
Wanting no part and thankfully
Learning after a couple of times that it hurts
He mildly waits for karma to give you your just deserts

First Principles: Guard With Jealous Attention the Public Liberty

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.” – Patrick Henry (1788) in his speech before the Virginia Ratifying Committee

Thought For the Day: Any Claim To Human Rights Today, In Some Sense Or Another, Is Owing To That Revelation In Genesis That People Are Made In God’s Image and Likeness

“Any claim to human rights today, in some sense or another, is owing to that revelation in Genesis that people are made in God’s image and likeness.” – Robert R. Reilly, Director of the Westminster Institute and author of “America On Trial: A Defense of the Founding”

Righting My Wrong Direction

A little something from my notes taken during yesterday’s sermon:

Through the Rabbit's Hole - Directions Shown

Righting My Wrong Direction
by Michael Doyle

No longer living in the wrong direction
I'm seeking God's love and true connection
Returning the fullness of love that God has given
Blessed in knowing that I am forgiven

In discipleship, we honor God in our worship
Walking straight and true in our relationship
Being blessed in knowing that God is good
Keeping that goodness as if we truly understood

That those of us who heed the Lord's call
Are thereafter bound to following His law
This is particularly true as to family
Where marriage is deeper than its formality

Passionate though we are in our humanity
We must be mindful to bear fruit for God's family
Sinfulness leads us to into our temptation
Particularly if we're not careful in our contemplation

Release from the law, we still see our reflection
Deep as our deepest sense of our contemplation
The law is the mover of all that is right and good
And how we should live as its understood

We agree with law and yet we do its opposite
Such are our errors lived in unrighteous composite
We want to do the good and truly would
But our sin dwells deeper than we've understood

That we by ourselves will somehow always fall
Always just a bit short of following the law
Let us always try to do that which is right
Being good and pure; walking in God's light

Thought For the Day: The President Is …the President of the Whole People. He Must Guide His Conduct By the Idealism of Our People.

“The President is not only the leader of a party, he is the President of the whole people. He must interpret the conscience of America. He must guide his conduct by the idealism of our people.” – Herbert Hoover, 31st US President (10 Aug 1874-1964)

The whole people not exclusively the ideology of a minority of racist, Marxist rioters.   He or she in the future will be best guided in applying the founding principles of our nation.

Walking In Our Blissfulness

Based in part on Psalm 111:

From Delphi To Indiana Beach 08072020

Walking In Our Blissfulness
by Michael Doyle

Prayed by the number laid out
My knowledge of God removes all doubt
Staying in touch with God's family
Renewed and restored by our community

Our heroes are commended by our embraces
Finding today's front line in a thousand places
Raising these up in our thankful heart
Grateful that each does their Holy part

As we worship as one congregation
Faithful yesterday and tomorrow in our dedication
Finding our way in living trust
Forever true and devoted as we must

In all the joy and pain of our many days
Faced with courage in our many ways
God's hands provide peace and stillness
As we walk through life with blissfulness

The storms may rage as the rain falls down
But our peace is worn like our crown
Our hearts have courage on God's sacred ground
Held in His presence, all around -

Inside the Cave

Which side of a dream is real?

Dreamers & Co - Rockaway Cowgirl Has Her Memories

Inside the Cave
by Michael Doyle

In this slumber we call life
Some prefer peace over strife
To these, I find that I agree
But, that hasn't been the life led by me

Praying by the cross at your grave
I think more of the people I could not save
Than those of whom I was able
Clinging tight to what some call fable

Late at night, when shadows creep
I find it is not easy for me to sleep
Laying awake, thinking of the past
From long ago when the die was cast

There is no safety any more
Life has long since closed that door
Obeying orders only goes so far
Life must be lived by a higher bar

Some may speak to me of duty
Unquestioning even in the face of life's beauty
Streaming down in a trail of tears
Are my thoughts of duty's years

Felt hard like a near fatal crash
I want my life to be more than dine and dash
This life's test is but a blip in eternity
As I struggle toward my immortality

Mother don't you dig me my grave
I still have more that I might save
Don't speak to me of all that I gave
I have glimpsed the truth inside the cave

Thought For the Day: The Vilest Form of Self-Abasement and Self-Destruction Is the Subordination of Your Mind To the Mind of Another

“Independence is the recognition of the fact that yours is the responsibility of judgment and nothing can help you escape it—that no substitute can do your thinking—that the vilest form of self-abasement and self-destruction is the subordination of your mind to the mind of another, the acceptance of an authority over your brain, the acceptance of his assertions as facts, his say-so as truth, his edicts as middle-man between your consciousness and your existence.”

― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
