Truth of This Human’s Race

The truth is what will set us all free.  Man is mortal – limited in time.  But, not in God’s grace.

Truth of This Human's Race
by Michael Doyle

Thank you Father for loving me
Making your grace part of my theology
Heavenly felt in your embrace
It's the awkward truth of this human's race

Beautifully and wonderfully, we are made
Irrespective of creed or skin shade
Different though we are in our community
We are all part of God's one family

No Sunday morning segregation
The body of Christ is one of integration
This then is part of the beauty
Listening as we will and as is our duty

Encouraging each other to listen more than talk
This then is how we grow in our daily walk
Until we each become as though the shining light
That listens in our hearts' saddest night

Coming together in Christ and in our humility
To be our best in the loving shelter of God's family
Taking the plank out of my wounded eye
I raise my hands outstretched in prayer towards the sky

But Not Today

Yesterday, my driver’s side back wheel got sabotaged and blew out while on the highway.   Probably just a freak accident, right?  Anyhow.. a poem came from this.  Surprise, right?

Spoiler alert, I found out once again about the goodness in the hearts of the small town.  The folks who helped me and gave me breaks here and there to try to make this bit of misfortune less so was and is enheartening.   And… oh, I picked up the pieces quickly and managed to go take 200+ photos.  God and small town Indiana was looking out for me.  I have a heart filled with gratitude.

But Not Today
by Michael Doyle

With the simplicity of a stumble
I watch as my heart starts to crumble
It's clear that I lost my way
It doesn't matter; I hope to find it another day

But not today; not today
Feeling like a dog gone astray
All my cards thrown into play
A caffeine pick-up and I'm on my way

Flat tire on the interstate
Man, this day is rolling great
With no need for a cop
I manage to limp into the truck stop

Maybe it's the price of constantly driving
Staying alive and simply surviving
I had hoped to take photos today
The story of my life these days

But not today; not today
Feeling like a dog gone astray
All of my cards thrown into play
A caffeine pick-up; tire change and I'm on my way

P.S.   Not my vehicle, just something I drove past in the drive that gave me pause to count my blessings that it too was not today…

Thought For the Day: There Is No Crushing This Virus. We Were Told 15 Days To…Flatten the Curve

“There is no crushing this virus. We were told fifteen days to SLOW the spread [to] flatten the curve. That is what we all consented to. Not hiding in a bunker for an indefinite amount of time to wait for a perhaps vaccine.”  – Bethany S. Mandel

We cannot hide forever.  We must deal with this and realize that 1% fatality is far less than the consequences of hiding indefinitely while science attempts to defeat something that constantly mutates and kills far less of us than other diseases that we face off against every day.

To Learn To Love

To Learn To Love
by Michael Doyle

Bearing as we do with each other
Learning daily to forgive and love one another
It is always the greatest of love's expression
And the hardest to do in my humble impression

It's a struggle isn't it, as we stumble
Being let down as we sometimes fumble
Still messing up through all of our years
Growing in the image of Christ through my tears

Jesus forgives me despite my blindness
Tenderhearted, I reach out in kindness
Forgiving beyond the act of apology
My heart holds this as part of my theology

Intentional in my letting go of anger and hurt
Not playing it down as if it were inert
No excuses needed in our outbreak of honesty
My heart holds this too as part of my theology

Time heals all wounds when taken in action
Actively deciding on the high road's own satisfaction
Never being done with each other despite our sin
Not forgetting, but forgiving and loving yet again

Seeking only our total reconciliation
I live my life letting go of condemnation
Forgiving myself and others for things gone wrong
It's not a feeling but the knowledge that we all belong

Together on the path of being our Father's family
The healing in this is part of my theology
It is there in taking and making this faithful choice
That I find the healthiness returned to full voice

God has forgiven both you and me
For more than than your words against my dignity
The power shown is provided for my capacity
To let go of hurt and dwell with righteous sincerity

Keeping this in mind, I let all wrongs go
Increasing as it were the strength of God's flow
All of this brings new possibility born again
One step closer to living beyond our past sins

Doing all that I can to live in peace with everyone
Not letting evil conquer the good works once begun
We are most like God when we earnestly forgive
And being like God is to learn to once again truly live

To Find Peace

So many movies and books predict nothing but darkness and gloom in our future.   Maybe that’s easy enough to understand with the fact that we so often seek force rather than reason to overcome past and present hurts.  But, maybe we need to do better to get better?

To Find Peace
by Michael Doyle

Will the world become dark desolation
Where the world has toppled along with its nations
Will it be a world of suffering and annihilation
In which only war and loss await every nation

Death rolls out from the truck bed
Quicker than prayers are able to be said
Will this be the world that we have set
Or, is there some hope beyond our regrets

It will take more than pithy words from a shelf
As we are whittled down to ourselves
If we are to find our way through to victory
We will need more than metaphorical imagery

Minds only stretch so far before their ruin
This is often the key to our undoing
Only healing will being our reconciliation
Forgiveness preventing the path of our devastation

It may sting a bit to find that way to peace
But once we do, we'll find our release
In the nakedness of the morning's first light
We will bring a new day out of our darkest night

First Principles: It Is Morally As Bad Not To Care Whether A Thing Is True Or Not, So Long As It Makes You Feel Good, As It Is Not To Care How You Got Your Money As Long As You Have It

“It is morally as bad not to care whether a thing is true or not, so long as it makes you feel good, as it is not to care how you got your money as long as you have it.” – Edwin Way Teale (1889-1980)

May not be totally within the parameters of time era but certain it is within keeping of the First Principles on which our republic is founded.

Thought For the Day: If Thoughts Can Corrupt Language, Language Can Also Corrupt Thoughts

“If thoughts can corrupt language, language can also corrupt thoughts.” – George Orwell

Just say, no! No to the thought police who want to demand we reshape our language to conform to their ideology.  That is a sure sign that the movement is fascist in nature.
