Reflections In Darkest Times

Who should we turn to in these times if not God?

Downtown Indianapolis - Moody Reflections

Reflections In Darkest Times
by Michael Doyle

In these days of riotous insurrection
I find myself quietly in my reflection
Spending moments silently alone
Needing love to be as steadfast as stone

Prayerfully, I see your presence
A love in action sparkling in effervescence
I strike up the chorus to your song
Knowing that your love helps me to be strong

It's a little harder to keep participation
Regardless of the need or my anticipation
Though in your richness, I surpass poverty
It's harder now to live life as if legendary

Keeping in prayer for health and family
Mindful of the needs across our country
Thankful for your love and your mercy
It works on my mind and heart tenderly

Life Taken By Slice

Life is filled with events that beg for good photographs that capture their essence.  Next in the series on photography and photograph composition.

Heart's Desire - Exactly That....

Life Taken By Slice
by Michael Doyle

Birthdays, weddings and holidays
Special occasions in a million ways
It's not so hard to be surmised
And with a little thought, you won't be surprised

If you capture the good times with a frame
And caption these properly with given names
Shot candidly in the little moments of joy
The fly on the wall mode simply deploys

In all we grab for and force nothing
And in doing this, we find our something
All of the details that bind the ties
That will be remembered as life goes by

Doing the homework that shows respect
Scouted out in detail without neglect
Seasoning the main dish of life's events
Leaving nothing to catch nor in circumvent

With long exposure, we soak in the light
As the glorious moments fade into the night
With a round of drinks, we find that sight
That draws in the colors and swirls just right

These are the photos that stop precise time
Saving these moments aside as something sublime
Glasses raised in semi-sacred and holy toasts
The stolen kiss that is remembered most

Toward lights that spark that which is beautiful
Each bringing that something which is wonderful
Stuck in mind as having so much more the meaning
All of the emotions and moments of our being

The birthday moments blows the candles out
No other moment holds up to that dramatic count
When a wish is whispered across the face
That would be near impossible to ever replace

Presents opened to cuts of frosted cake
This is the the stuff of life that really takes
From every angle, we have quietly seen
The photographs of all of us humans being

If you want the most and deepest satisfaction
Be the fly on the wall and don't stop the action
Catching the best of life in all of its spice
Taken like cake, slice by slice

Thought For the Day: The Way To Stop Discrimination On the Basis of Race Is To Stop Discriminating On the Basis of Race

“The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” – USSC Chief Justice John Roberts

It’s truly that simple. .. Hear that Black Lives Matter?  Stop discriminating on the basis of race along with all the other racists.   Thanks….

Knowing and Doing God’s Will

Based in part on Romans 12:1-8:

Knowing and Doing God's Will
by Michael Doyle

Asking the right sort of questions
Seeking His will without hesitation
Why then should we willing to obey
What and how do we do this every day

Starting with the knowledge of the why
It's found in the Gospel's loving sigh
In response to the grafting of the vine
We do so in response to mercy divine

Because of all He has so lovingly done
Lives laid on the altar acceptable to the one
To whom we must live in our obedience
Keeping His commandments with expedience

We must in live this truth in our presence
Facing our challenges with effervescence
We then open to living as to God's will
As step by step, this will transform and reveal

Immersed as we are in the Word and prayer
Conforming to all that you will find there
If you do this then, you will live a life that's good
Doing all those things we really should

Getting in the Word and living it for all its worth
Is how we at last find and live our true north
Keeping these ways in all grace and humility
We keep the faith of our loving humanity

Shining our love with all of our prayerful capability
We walk our walk, talking our talk in accountability
To refrain from our Godly gifts is to be in our sin
Through the omission of things needed again

To be able to do this to our utmost ability
We must walk side by side in faithful community
Sharing our gifts as God would want us to do
These are the things expected of me and of you

Leaning On His Promises

It’s interesting times we live in.  Watched a church sermon via the internet.

Leaning On His Promises
by Michael Doyle

The church's electronic bulletin board read
Much as the Good Book itself has said
We need to remember each other as sister and brother
A friendly reminder to love one another

Letting praise be the way to silence the enemy
May prayer bring end to our breathless anxiety
Everywhere before my stinging, weary eyes
I see praise breaking through the walls that rise

Letting faith calm all the storms inside
Let love of God conquer my willful pride
Creation raises up in its glorious praise
Before the first dawning of the new day's sun rays

Watching the giants of fear take their fall
As God comes to break down every wall
Let this bring society's new breakthrough
As our loving God embraces me and you

Leaning into the presence of His living
Our Lord God through Jesus comes forgiving
Unshakable in His glory and control
It brings hope in His promises for my soul

Thought For the Day: The Power To Define the Situation Is the Ultimate Power

“The power to define the situation is the ultimate power.” – Jerry Rubin, activist and author (14 Jul 1938-1994)

We, who would keep America per the founding principles of our republic, must learn this truism.   We keep allowing the Far Left to define our situation to the determent of society.    All Life Is Sacred, not just some group of life, All Life.   Further, history is replete with examples that socialism, particularly radical socialism be it attempts at communism or fascism, does not work to the best for the people despite its slogans and battle cries.
