There’s the Deep of That

Common culture often sees child’s play as an expression of something basic.  Modern psychology suggests that it is otherwise.  I am inclined to agree.

There's the Deep of That
by Michael Romani

There is as it seems
A world that allows for dreams
And the best way a child plays
Is one that allows a zillion ways

..To not arbitrarily predesign
But allows each child to refine
Their joy in how each learns
Exceeding self impositions to discern

For themselves outside the archetype
Moving beyond the push backed hype
Creating their own agency in preference
From the basic building blocks of reference

One step at a time making our better place
Each step of the way with smiling faces
Perhaps this is too much to dream
Or, maybe that's just the way it seems

But if we dare not let out the pleasure inside
How will it ever be that we learn to confide
In that which is our own truest voice
There's the deep of it, in that choice

Thought For the Day: Truth, Forgiveness and Love Can Heal the World

“Know that truth, forgiveness, and love can heal the world. Imagine if all of us could be truthful with ourselves, start forgiving everyone, and start loving everyone. We would no longer be selfish, gossiping would be over, and we would no longer judge one another. The world would become a place where all of us live in love.” – Miguel Angel Ruiz

First Principles: As the President Bears No Resemblance To A King So the Senate Has No Similarity To Nobles

“As our president bears no resemblance to a king so we shall see the Senate has no similitude to nobles. First, not being hereditary, their collective knowledge, wisdom, and virtue are not precarious. For by these qualities alone are they to obtain their offices, and they will have none of the peculiar qualities and vices of those men who possess power merely because their father held it before them.” – Tench Coxe (1787)

Flash In the Pan

In the hustle and bustle that makes up our busy days so many, perhaps too many people and places come and go and yet these linger in our memories, right?

Home, Sweet, Home - Somewhere Beyond Time & Space

Flash In the Pan
by Michael Romani

Our hearts thrown in the ring
Invincible in the songs we sing
Never knowing what tomorrows bring
We kiss goodbye to this modern love thing

Independent in her soulful mind
No bets taken on the certainties we find
Books read into the late of night
Hating to know our friends are always right

Seen in ways that steel and refine
All those things we call yours and mine
Trespassed in the pages of our days
Hearts crack in their own ways

The some things that always change
A flash in the pan feeling comfortably strange
And yet completes us into our late nights
Spent alone reading by dimmed lights

As Jesus Was Walking (In My Life)

Based in part on Matthew 4:18-20 and on other things as well.. 😉

Northern Shore - Leading Edge of Light Over Darkness

As Jesus Was Walking (In My Life)
by Michael Romani

Coming home to Jesus, taking my love home
There at the foot of the cross, not alone
There in the turning of the final stone
Your words speak to me as I come to atone

Running to the Lord in my faith in His glory
Empowered by the message of His story
In Him I find my way  on the path of salvation
You by my side, blessed by love and satisfaction

A tale that finds our Father and Jesus simply walking
Holding her hand, touching her love and talking
As we listen to the message there in the day's sermon
So happy to share in the Lord's ways as best determined

The tranquility of peace has brought it's true meaning
Coming to bear on what we can do as human beings
Fulfillment met and kept with no regret feeling true love
Extraordinary in the meanings lived in us as the above

The truth in all the reasons I have for loving as I'm living
Keeping promises as best I can and then being forgiving
Thought about answers to questions that have been incomplete
Were met in God and now your love connected as we meet

All those things that make life worthy of all the days of living
Are found in God, you, the girls and knowing life is for the giving
Committed to the purposes that make my life worth while
Are kept in following Christ, serving well and found in your smile

Mind Games Played

Recent developments in science and in a virtual environment I spend some time on has led me to question a few things pertinent to ethical behavior or actually the lack thereof on the part of certain people I have come to know.  One outcome?  This poem:

Rising From the Mud - Anguish Crawling From the Corner

Mind Games Played
by Michael Romani

The faith of blood is in her tears
As the quantum connection nears
God forbid those who might interfere
The path forward is increasingly clear

There in the cognitive transference
As minds connect truly and in inference
A new kind of meeting of hearts and minds
As many a good man is left behind

Engaged as it were in more than child's play
Interfaced on the computer day after day
Me to you and you to me -
With only ourselves limiting levels of transparency

It's the mark of the beast in this technology
As quantum processing blends our reactivity
And computers take over the processes of our brains
How few truly wonder what will restrain

The loss of our hearts and soul
How long will it be before we lose control?
With artificial intelligence being surer than we are
Just precisely when it is that we've gone too far

Homo sapiens gives way to something a bit more
Or something different, who is to say for sure
There in our audio and spatial unification
We increasingly become less cognitive of our hallucination

The boundaries of real are being pushed to the limit
With only a handful of elite left to define it
What then is our reality let alone our theology
As cybernetics takes the place of our common biology?

What new ethics will become that which is our philosophy
All in the name of barely keeping up with modernity
Technology has brought mankind to evolution without end
I can only pray for the best as I too transcend
