First Principles: The Natural Rights of All People Include the Right To Life; the Right to Liberty; the Right to Property and the Right to Defend These

“Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: First a right to life, secondly to liberty, and thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can.” –  Samuel Adams

Thought For the Day: There Is Nothing So Pitiful As A Young Cynic Because They Have Gone From Knowing Nothing To Believing Nothing

“There is nothing so pitiful as a young cynic because he has gone from knowing nothing to believing nothing.”  – Maya Angelou

I had been searching for the right words with respect to Greta Thunberg.  Ms. Angelou could not have said it better.  It’s not so much anger toward this know nothing young lady with so little gratitude who has been spoon fed her lines by much older equally ignorant people but outright pity.   She knows so very little and believes even less.  What a sad state of being to live in at the beginning of her life.  As time goes on and she sees the predictions of her side fail over and over again as I have what will be left for her?  I was once a rabid sort of environmentalist too – less filled with anger toward the world but also believing that the answer is to seek how to make things better not just complain and do nothing but complain and rage.  Hopefully, life will lead her to better answers and less reliance on the people who are using her as a tool.

Soul Shift – Deplorable

Sort of a beginning exploration into the dark side possible outcome of mankind’s transition toward half believing we understand the implications of quantum theories.

Entropy V - Diabolus Juvante II - Sitting On Top Of the World

Soul Shift - Deplorable
by Michael Romani

Father forgive us, we know not what we do
Always striving for the better of something new
Delving into the pushed borders of technology
Despite the known boundaries of our simplicity

Soul to soul we shift beyond terms of biology
All in the name of that elusive connectivity
Fractured elements blossom into feigned hope
Who would have guessed we were at the end of our rope

Time has become subject to the superlative
Of being under our control and somewhat relative
There are rumors calculating humanity's cost
In our all of our dreams and spirituality lost

Some believe God is dead in this state of blur
And all the fade out of morality that occurs
Science and spirituality both seek to understand
Each egotistically less concerned with the other's hand

It's enough to cause the faithful to flee
When knowing and daring more leads to eternity
Each side of humanity both seeking best to know
While denying each other in ignorance of God's flow

We are living through this present crisis
That somehow manages to pass its con as science
Though it's based on anecdotal speculation
That does not pass empiricism's interrogation

There is a darkness in us all that is dependable
That mankind's ego is beyond indefensible
Especially, when we find our humanity expendable
Our souls have shifted toward the deplorable

Rules of the Beast II

A poetic retelling of Dracula continues….

Aeterna Horde Haunted Manor - Reading By the Blood Moon

Rules of the Beast II
by Michael Romani

Fresh blood can be so invigorating
As the new day's path is exhilarating
Ghostly mirages are fleeting in sight
Proofs of things that fill the night

Questions answered as if in riddle
When the truth fails, caught in the middle
Each day passes as lives are exchanged
Unacceptable in the beliefs estranged

Deeper and deeper into a labyrinth of madness
Remarkable in darkness and its sadness
Clawed out into its rabid indignity
The puzzles left for all of eternity

There is no question left worthy to ask
Once and when death chooses to remove its mask
The tombstone provides its sharp epitaph
Washed away and under the complexity of math

Begging to be killed; pleads the undead
Shadows of life played on in the head
Not to be passed by in its contamination
Consciousness persists in its unholy insinuation

Scratching at coffin lids for all eternity
The gravedigger's secret whispers its temerity
Faith is a complication salve for salvation
As blood is drained in feverish infatuation

A lack of strength finds its victim
As the Count hints a smile and laughs at him
Crawling feebly across the castle floor
Harker seeks escape; unwilling to give more

It's the clever ones who never listen
As the blood lost drips and glistens
Artists always wish to be understood
Who's to say if this is bad or good

First Principles: Falsehood of the Tongue Leads To That of the Heart

“It is of great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible; and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and a third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world’s believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good disposition.” – Thomas Jefferson (1785)

Unpredictable Play

Play is how children best first learn.  Maybe it’s that way throughout all of life?

Wild, Wild West -Desert School House

Unpredictable Play
by Michael Romani

Life, she says, is truly best
When it's lived an unpredictable test
Where attention is paid like a guest
Requiring attention, not mental rest

Architecture against our dying
An insistence on always trying
It's a given that heroes will rise
From truly living and relying on alibis

Awareness keeps you young and alive
Paying attention to live not just survive
Engagement is needed to find our own way
This is the truest value in our play

There is much to dream on and to see
Where you're left alone to explore debris
It's there in the added bits and significant
When there's no set pattern to how the pieces fit

Empowered to find what is that is real
A child finds themselves in the fine details
These are the open ended lessons of intuition
That teaches better than rote and repetition

Post-industrial moves freed beyond the school
Not longer stuck in how well you follow rules
But learning the importance of the world outside
Where mind and soul shine not needing to hide

Curiosity didn't kill the cat at all
But made it claw out and not simply recall
All of this living the nuts and bolts at the brink
Is the learning how to really feel and think
