First Principles: Whenever the Pillars of Christianity Are Overthrown, Our Republican Government and All Blessing From It Will Fall With Them

“To the kindly influence of Christianity we owe that degree of civil freedom, and political and social happiness, which mankind now enjoys…Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government – and all blessings which flow from them – must fall with them.” – Jedidiah Morse

Thought For the Day: Though We Have Nothing Left To Give Away, Let’s Not Forget It’s St. Nicholas Day!

“Once again St. Nicholas Day Has even come to our hideaway; It won’t be quite as fun, I fear, As the happy day we had last year. Then we were hopeful, no reason to doubt That optimism would win the bout, And by the time this year came round, We’d all be free, and safe and sound. Still, let’s not forget it’s St. Nicholas Day, Though we’ve nothing left to give away. We’ll have to find something else to do: So everyone please look in their shoe!” – Anne Frank

On This St Nicholas Day 2019

Happiest of St Nicholas’ Days 2019!  This is the day that I will forever and a day celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season.  Though honestly, I believe the world would be all the better if we kept Christmas in our hearts every day of each year!

On This St Nicholas Day 2019
by Michael Romani

The shivering cover of the night
Begins to grow into day's first light
Fortune's favor would soon grant
A December's birth from fabled romance

Though the very wolf bays at the door
St Nicholas is there always to save the poor
Struggling against poverty's saddened pain
As the believers cling tight waiting for summer again

Filled with faith, there is no doubt at all
That something most beautiful will befall
For every child on this St. Nicholas Day
The sweet sounds of gladness will lead the way

The times that he lived seems now so faraway
But the truth remains of the legends they say
He traveled to Nicea to help seal the Creed
For this was his respect for all of his good deeds

From the toys and gifts left in their old shoes
His love shared well the gift of good news
Giving gifts was his custom, and so it remains the same
Deeds done for Jesus and yet credited to Santa's good name

A Ninja’s Ways

Rumor has it that a burger place is behind December 5th being named International Ninja Day!  I think the odds are this is true.  But it doesn’t change a thing about how I’m choosing to see it. 🙂

A Ninja's Ways
by Michael Romani

The truest key to a ninja's ways
Is learning how he centers his days
Whether it's only spent in fighting
Or reaching for the higher truths, soul enlightening

This this is the truest meaning
And the essence of a ninja's being
Always seeking a higher spiritual state
Looking for life's meaning before it's too late

This is the word then of the true ninja
And warrior's word is the bond of all ninja
All of this is but to live and endure
Prevailing against all that might become impure

Ninpo is the way given much deference
To become in every way deeper in significance
Always calm and thoughtful in every way
This then is the stealth that carries the day

The battle is had and already won
Before the enemy even knows it has begun
Every motion conformed to right intention
Nothing ever escapes the ninja's attention

Passport To Heaven

Based on a dockside sermon:

God's House of Prayer Church - Sermon On the Pier

Passport To Heaven
by Michael Romani

The work of the spirit is to convict us of sin
That we might live triumphant yet again
This is the message that we must always live
And in the midst of wrong always forgive

This is how we one day we have our arrival
There at Heaven's gate beyond mere survival
There is only one passport that will ever do
It's the stamp of forgiveness for me and you

Only faith offers us the peace and justification
That will ever give us the path to our salvation
It's there in our creed given in open declaration
Giving us the only way we reach our destination

You can give up billions but it won't pay the price
You can say good things and that won't suffice
Eternal life is ours through Jesus and to be forgiven
This is the truth of we need to be truly living

No long fearing the judgment that will come
When we're before the holy throne of the kingdom
This is written that we might know beyond knowing
The blessed assurance that sets our spirits glowing

It this believing that we must lean on in trust
Realizing every other attempt comes to a bust
It's only through clinging to our precious belief
Does our hearts become stamped with relief

Happiness Is A Warm Cookie

December 4 is National Cookie Day!!  It doesn’t get better than this does it?  I’ll try to do the day a little bite sized bit of heartwarming justice.

Happiness Is A Warm Cookie
by Michael Romani

As the holidays come to shape my days
My mind slips back in a million ways
To the yesterdays spent as a child
And all those things for which I have smiled

Store bought never beats homemade
A lifetime later and the memories still don't fade
Homemade cookies were fundamental to Christmas
A single bit of walnut chocolate chip remains pure bliss

While I know that mistletoe is not to miss
And that nothing can be sweeter than your kiss
Getting down to the Christmas business
It's those homemade cookies what are pure bliss

There is almost nothing better for the soul
My inner child still craves raw cookie dough
There were so many gentle finger slaps in the kitchen
For as many happy nibbles I was always snitching

I was quietly convinced that a balanced diet
Was two or four cookies and more if I could try it
Between blending all the ingredients we'd mix in
In the giant bowls of delight mixed in the kitchen

A mother's love is never quite so unconditional
As when she bakes cookies bite sized and personal
Each of these filled with love from her heart
This then is where the true love of cooking starts

First Principles: The Constitution’s Oath On All American Officers Against Perjury Is An Acknowledgment of God’s Being and Providence

“The Constitution enjoins an oath upon all the officers of the United States. This is a direct appeal to that God Who is the avenger of perjury. Such an appeal to Him is a full acknowledgement of His being and providence.” – Oliver Wolcott
