Thankfulness For the Armor of God

A poem in gratitude for our creator #18:

Aradia - In the Here of the Without You

Thankfulness For the Amor of God
by Michael Romani

When I look into the mirror
It no longer takes a seer
To see that I am not the enemy
But am still staring back the adversary

Whispers says and I suppose its true
That there's a bit of the Devil in me and you
Thankful for the armor, I fight this fight
Turning my life around toward the light

He's a clever one, that evil one
Humbly I submit, the battle's just begun
Guarding hard against the darkness
Sometimes losing myself to the harshness

Gratefully keeping myself steadfast in prayer
Patiently keeping in mind that the Devil's still there
No longer feeling quite as remorsefully blinded
But, constantly I remain reminded

Not quite as stubborn as I was in my youth
I keep my heart humbly grounded in the truth
Looking into that mirror, I am thankful for God's grace
But, at least I can look myself in the face

The Devil prowls around like a roaring lion
But, my eyes remain focused on God's Zion
Having once trusted in false leaders filled with greed
I've matured enough to know that it's God that I need

Thankfully, no longer captive to the Devil's schemes
The truth has allowed me to follow better dreams
Step by step, I die to myself in this simplicity
It's the holy saving grace found in my humility

Thought For the Day: Cultivate the Habit of Being Grateful For Every Good Thing That Comes To You and Give Thanks Continuously

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thankfulness For the Season

A poem in gratitude #17:

Church Sanctuary - Giving Thanks For the New Day Coming

Thankfulness For the Season
by Michael Romani

Memories of letters written
By the likes of me and you
To a certain man in red
Depending on how written
Always brought a toy or two
Thoughts of this dance inside my head

In this well lettered story
There is seldom a given thank you
But then again, who is looking for glory
Just a thought of kindness would do
Somehow its these things that give us meaning
And the essence of magic into our being

Thankful for the challenges along the way
The sorts of things seen as adversity
Eyes popping in a thousand shades of gray
As we take life in all of its immensity
Its all in how we choose to see
But, the best presents are received in humility

In this grown up world of resentment
Too often filled with anger and spite
It takes good will to find loving contentment
So desperately needed to shine its light
These are the things of absolute brilliance
That gives to each of us our best resilience

Coming to us in this time of year
As we lift our cups filled with holiday cheer
Giving our spirits over to tidings of joy
Little rays of happiness given with each toy
Bestowed on each of us with hearts of gratitude
This is the thankfulness of our right attitude

So as we turn to each in our loving family
This looking back over the passing years
Let our memories be of love and good company
Remembering collected smiles and not tears
For this then is the way of blessed love
Our truest connection to God above

Thankful For Nothing

A poem of gratitude #16:

Romance in the Stars - Descent To the Earth

Thankful For Nothing
by Michael Romani

Always looking to connect
I hold things up to inspect
Never intending to ever neglect
Anything even where circumspect

A question has haunted mankind
Who is always probing trying to find
From either zooming in or zooming out
All those things to remove our doubt

No matter if we look out into space
Or under a microscope, we have to embrace
A universe of plenty and is wonderful
Both views, in and out, reveal the beautiful

The nagging question though hard to avoid
To what might lay beyond that quantum void
And if as it seems that it's really sothing
Then everything comes from that nothing

Everything we have comes from that void
Which is taking to prove what we cannot avoid
That all that is is really a matter of nothing
Now isn't that really quite something?

Whether we serve this up as logical gravity
Necessarily pulling or theological divinity
It seems that everything is but a vibration
That scientists study with much fascination

And from this vibration all that we see and feel
Is that layer of reality that we consider real
I am thankful as this is held up in our examination
And though weary of, I do not understand the frustration

It's simple enough for me to the believe in God's particle
And that from this circumspect dot we find faith's article
When we look back on the history of science we find nothing
As the adjective use when we find that we don't find something

But always, this nothing has led to directly to our something
That is the observable every day life of our daily everything
Clearly the Bible teaches us that God created all from nothing
Now science is coming to thankfully agree; isn't that something?

Thought For the Day: A Christian’s First Duty Is To God and As A Matter of Course To Carry This Belief To the Polls To Vote Accordingly

“A Christian’s first duty is to God. It then follows, as a matter of course, that it is his duty to carry his Christian code to the polls and vote them… If Christians should vote their duty to God at the polls, they would carry every election, and do it with ease… it would bring about a moral revolution that would be incalculably beneficent. It would save the country.” – Mark Twain

With Appreciation

A poem of gratitude #15 in appreciation and gratitude for the influence of the California Sound of the 1960s and early 1970s.

With Appreciation
by Michael Romani

There is really all kinds of music
But, it doesn't really abuse it
To say that all music is really folk
And that every poem is waiting to be spoke

A simple bit of a twelve sting jangle
Played across a world of denim spangle
It took the Byrds to truly let it fly
A witches brew that Beatles could not deny

Truth is found that more the world changes
It always, yet, somehow remains a bit the same
And despite how the chordal movements rearrange
What remained was and is rock with a new game

Brian Wilson's music has genius and is art
It's as pure as Baroque and equal to Mozart
Though a bit drenched in the California sun
Troubles fade in a room filled with dreams begun

I am thankful for all of this of yesterday
All of the musicians before me with so much to say
With their lyrics harmonized in sunshine's melody
It spoke to my heart like a cosmic symphony

Memories of a lone Steinway in a room of sand
The bringing of pet sounds we'd come to understand
Though at the time off in a corner sitting by itself
Since then a million records have found influence on a shelf

Authentic in all that it is and has a way of being
Thinking for oneself with feeling brings true seeing
And in this third eye bind it brings a feel of light
Having brought this world's path to a sense of right
