Thought For the Day: Be Aware of Wonders While Living A Balanced Life

” Be aware of wonder.  Live a balanced life. Learn some and think some, and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.”  – Robert Fulghum, author (b. 4 Jun 1937)

Cultivating Kindness I

When life gets down to the fundamentals, isn’t kindness what we most need?  Like so many say, be that change.

Church Sanctuary - Act of Kindness

Cultivating Kindness I
by Michael Romani

In this world, filled with sin
And perhaps too much blindness
One clarion thought strikes again
We need to be cultivating kindness

Kindness is of the Holy Spirit
We need to abide by and hear it
This world needs a true friend
Someone decent and true on which to depend

This world has too much harshness
Filled with selfishness, often compassionless
What it needs is a spirit of forgiving
A gentleness shown in the art of our living

Tenderness and peace given to one another
Remembering that we are here for each other
Be ye kind always toward one another
Remembering to be this for our sisters and brothers

The indwelling Holy Spirit opens our eyes
To be kind and it comes as no real surprise
Friendly, generous and patient as our outflow
Should be the light we always follow

To be easy going and warmly hearted
With selfishness being the path parted
Every step taken as Christ's reflection
Is the Biblical path of our truest connection

Hot Sauce

Scribbled tales tell more than most would want to know, right?

Light of Luna - Alchemy - Fountain of Dreams

Hot Sauce
by Michael Romani

Layers of texture
Provide the details
The hot sauce of conjecture
Told in a scribbled tale
It's a portrait of a community
But also one of a family

Though there is much commonality
Power is felt in dirt and graffiti
There in the half hidden revelation
Hides the deeper things of fascination
The Hood has never been the best destination
Most at least to the outside indication

Yet, there is the hope of nostalgic sisterhood
There is also the grief of always seeking good
In all the moments of the all too tragic
This is still the seeking out of the simple magic
Like being there to watch the sunrise
And sharing it within each other's eyes

A downtown shimmer is there in the distance
Keeping in tact the impact of rugged resistance
In all of this is that looming unseen presence
That in each of us imprints its vital essence
Staring into the blinking neon sign over an ancient bar
Feeling the whispering secrets energize me like a twinkling star

Sometimes Better Than the Memories

Six guns out and blazing was the dream …. maybe a little too much time thinking on the West these days?

Junktown -Saddled Up and Ready To Go

Sometimes Better Than the Memories
by Michael Romani

Sometimes
I can't remember
The things that I've done
Sometimes
I can't remember
How it is it all had begun

Other times
I just don't want to know
And I can't explain my reasons why
Other times
It feels like a bad picture show
And I just want to cry

They say
That I used to be
A good boy grown to a man
I'm not sure which
It was to change my reality
Now, I just do the best that I can

I have killed
So many men
For my government
It has chilled
Me with this again
To never really know what it meant

I am certain
That when I die
I will got to Hell
My heart and soul are hurting
With the echoes of why
When I burn, it may be just as well

Sometimes
I can't remember
The things that I've done
Sometimes
I can't remember
How it is that it had all begun

Other times
I just don't want to know
And can't explain my reasons why
Other times
It feels like a bad picture show
And I just want to cry

Thought For the Day: It Is Paradoxical When Parents and Teachers Fail To See the Connection Between Learning and Play

“It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them.” – Leo Buscaglia, author (31 Mar 1924-1998)

First Principles: Beware That Two Passions Strongly Influence Politics – Love of Power and Love of Money

“(T)here are two passions which have a powerful influence in the affairs of men. These are ambition and avarice—the love of power and the love of money. Separately, each of these has great force in prompting men to action; but, when united in view of the same object, they have, in many minds, the most violent effects. Place before the eyes of such men a post of honor, that shall, at the same time, be a place of profit, and they will move heaven and earth to obtain it.” – Benjamin Franklin
