Beyond the treasures of the bounding main are those of peace, love and connection.
A Pirate's Quest For More by Michael Doyle We cannot be thieves forever Said the first mate being clever Better to score one last prize And then make peace with the sunrise They would build their kingdom Daring all contesters to come There to their island's clean sand Where put upon, they would make their stand Pressed dry for hope and wanting peace Their pirate crew sought sweet release To settle down to sunny island life Where they might build a future with a wife Sailing the bounding main for perhaps too long Changes even the heartiest sailor's dread song To one like Ulysses' desperation for home And the brave dreams of no longer being alone Saying yes in true heart's affirmation Living the good life's needed confirmation These are the things we are truly born for Fighting for love, peace and just a bit more Beating the siren's call into plowshare Pursuing sweet dreams; forsaking nightmares We can build our noble pirates kingdom In a douse of sunlight and island rum There in the torchlight moments of night Spent holding on until the morning's light Are the dreams too often scuttled on the shore Ever urged on in that deadly quest for more From our black sails we'll forge our nation One of refuge as we find our final destination There where riches store deeper than our souls Just beyond our island's tranquil shoals (c) March 3, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
