All Life Is Sacred

Perhaps  I repeat myself in saying that elevating one skin tone or sex over another is as wrong as having the first offense kept in place.  Love and respect for each other is what is needed.  All lives are sacred.

Museum of Tournament -All Points Being Equal

All Life Matters
by Michael Doyle

Outside my window, the city will burn
Is anyone asking what our children will learn
As in the name of love they see destruction
In an appalling lack of positive construction

Replacing one over the other is not the good
Nor that path of betterment ever understood
Tearing down the starry bits of firmament
Only put Lucifer in Hell where he'll stay permanent

Dr. King said and I do truly adhere and believe
That only love not hate and only the will not to deceive
Will ever be the path that wins over the ways of hate
It's a lesson worth learning before it becomes too late

All life is sacred and all life matters
To say that only Black Lives Matter
Is as vicious as things that I have fought
It is not the better way that I have sought

I do not ever mean to hurt or to offend
But however outrageous I will not pretend
And take part in something of a bad decision
Though meaning the aggrieved any derision

Injustice toward any is injustice toward us all
Let's engrave that on the storied wall
But never elevating one skin tone over another
Each of us should strive for equality of sister and brother

But no one should be ill afforded the deference
To say that they do not understand the reverence
That God created all to be equal before Him
And past wrongs are not made better replacing us for them

All life is sacred and all life truly matters
I will not bend knee to Only Black Lives Matter
Though I will always fight against the wrong
And for a society of inclusion where we all belong

A well disguised fascism is fascism nonetheless
I will always fight for the creed that I confess
Before the Father, we all equal as before the law
Let us emblazon that thought on society's wall

Thought For the Day: Homo Sapiens Is the Species That Invents Symbols In Which To Invest Passion and Authority, Then Forgets That Symbols Are Inventions

“Homo sapiens is the species that invents symbols in which to invest passion and authority, then forgets that symbols are inventions.” – Joyce Carol Oates, writer (b. 16 Jun 1938)

She Seemed Familiar

The challenge was to write a poem similar to a haiku that had an element of irony.   What in life these days is not ironic?

Downtown Indianapolis - Conversations Among Friends

She Seemed Familiar
by Michael Doyle

She seemed familiar
Until we started talking
We had met before

The more that I know
The more I wanted to know
Perhaps we'll talk more

Turning stranger friend
Seems like a good way to end
Is that ironic?

To London, Across the Sea

A further retelling of Dracula in poetic form:

Chess Wonderland - .. Cica Tree II

To London, Across the Sea
by Michael Doyle

In a tested game of chess
A knight is menacing a queen
The losing side will confess
What this really means

A voyage has its complications
With an array of intuitions
None of which is to be attached
For life is fragile and best detached

Scratches on the coffin bear the mark
Of a truth as feared as it is stark
Death is a destroyer of all plans
It is just that plain to understand

A broken down ship begins to set sail
In this middle of our dark tale
With an agreement of the strangeness of it all
The truth of this will be known before nightfall

Fear waits listening at the door
While death speaks of hunger and more
There is something ravenous in his eyes
As around him swirls a canopy of flies

There is little good in a story
That reads and sounds like a story
Everyone needs a little spice for glory
Otherwise, it is, indeed, just another story

While the master of darkness breathes in the night
A gathering fog staunches out the light
Even the deaf and dumb have eyes to see
The obvious is not so very hard to see

The wages of the master pay the price of slavery
As cruelly as the passage of damnation's eternity
Appearances are kept in its necessary evil
The penalty for shaking hands with the Devil

Turns in the wickedness of deep conversation
Keeps good company traveling toward destination
An age of elegance becomes draped in the vulgarity
As the journey is made to London, across the sea

First Principles: The Citizens of America Have Too Much Discernment To Be Argued Into Anarchy

“The citizens of America have too much discernment to be argued into anarchy. and I am much mistaken if experience has not wrought a deep and solemn conviction in the public mind that greater energy of government is essential to the welfare and prosperity of the community.” – Alexander Hamilton, in  Federalist No. 26

The Mystery of Crow

Another inspired by the blues I listened to on my road trip today.   I have to say, while there are scenic road trip guides, this is the first time I’ve driven the beautiful country roads of Morgan and Monroe Counties in Indiana.   I had never even heard about how beautiful the spaces between the nature preserves are.   If you get a chance, you should drive them.  Even the gravel and dirt passages were utterly amazing.

Nantucket Yacht Club - Blues Heron Plays Vedder

The Mystery of Crow
by Michael Doyle

How then does one even begin
Perhaps in remembering back to when
That is the when of the meeting of crow
And how the groove was stolen from Smokey Joe

There on the mountain that changed
On the path that somehow rearranged
That sparkle of something from nothing
Until that sparkle outshone everything

A songbird just outside the window
In life's allusion lived within a shadow
And orange oriole blossoms into crow of night
Self assured, crow weaves its dark delight

Crow offers his bangles of divine mastery
As it soars through the pages of blues history
There it is that it begins in that whirlwind
With rhythm and passion dancing as friends

Sugar cane memories passing by
While the crow flies on high
It's a Carolinian sort of soul shake
As life offers up the purity of heartbreak

First Principles: Without Morals A Republic Cannot Subsist Any Length of Time

“Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.“ – Charles Carroll

Thought of the Day: This Grand Show Is Eternal. It Is Always Sunrise Somewhere.

“This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.” – John Muir
