Kid Lost In Story

What’s the difference between a kid at play and an artist lost in art? Give up?  Maybe me too….

Merryville - The Holidays at Cay's - Merryville Expressed

Kid Lost In Story
by Michael Romani

Hand sketched
And mentally stretched
The artist knows her caper
Put down as it on paper

A kid lost in her story
Lost in playground of glory
Sculptures of fantasy
Adrenaline in ecstasy

Building blocks
Played on the rocks
This is how children learn
In an oceanic energy burn

Too much of the world preconstructed
In ways imposing rules instructed
Restrictive and a bit of percussion
Hellbent toward creativity's destruction

It can't be understood
Any other way
It's just no good
To get in our way

Part and pieces fit together
Never worse, always better
When we let these things flow
And this, my child, is how we grow

It's okay to do it all wrong
It's how we find where we belong
There in those awkward moments
That make us smile at all that's meant

A Victorian Legacy

Have you ever read all of the Dickens works?  I know most of us are familiar with A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield and perhaps a few more.  But, what a time and age to live through with all of its issues in giving voice to the lives lived then.  In one part magical and another tragic – all of it bears on the world we live today.

The Dickens Project 2019 -Carriage Ride

A Victorian Legacy
by Michael Romani

Snow falls on the city street
While a carriage comes to meet
Two who know love and travails
Only certain that love must prevail

Even in squalor and poverty
There is found cause for joy in its delicacy
An orphaned boy is taught the value of a penny
While house is not a home when its empty

No longer filled by the soul of the hearth
Who once inhabited it fully and in mirth
Hearts won and lost in this cold city
Know the meaning of deep winter's pity

Death comes to demand its respect
With Christmas Eve refusing its own neglect
All of this is consumed inside a library
That holds its treasured Dickensian legacy

All of debt kept close in Scrooge's ledger
Is diminished into contempt hungering and eager
That its demands must be circumspected
As long as society finds itself lost and neglected

Finished Ideas

To design for toying or for play allows the imagination to stray.  Does it not?

Toy Store - It All Started With A Mouse

Finished Ideas
by Michael Romani

Finished ideas
Have no place
In the imagination
All idylls
To embrace
With our fascination

The only limitation
Is that elimination
Of things that have been
Until when and then
Designed for play
In and along the way

Circumstances arrive
Objects kept alive
From the very start
Deep within our hearts
Every abstraction
Becomes its own distraction

Counting Blessings

Based in part on Ephesians 1:3 –

Duran Duran — Eye-Shaped Cinema - Eye On You

Counting Blessings
by Michael Romani

As this new year has begun
My eyes focus clearly on the One
The One who is all knowing
And whose love is ever flowing

The ways of Heaven and God are higher
Then ours and He knows our every desire
The greatest blessings of all are already ours
Moved past the material things into the stars

It is from Heaven that spiritual blessings flow
God's purposes dispensed that we might know
All the conditions requisite of the Beatitudes
That bring us to purely our right attitudes

Before the foundation of the Earth was past
Our destination was already eternally cast
As an invitation given to us all in prayer
Kept in the promises of God wherever we fare

Our present blessings in our redemption
Are made known, forgiven in our contemplation
Though born into the debt and bondage of sin
God restores the riches of His grace again and again

Prophecy holds that future blessings will come
When Christ makes all things right for His Kingdom
We, as His Children, are predestined and kept
Secured in our salvation we've already met

In Remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

May each of the readers of Aloha Promises Forever have a blessed day of service and communion on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 20, 2020.  May we always join together with such clarity!

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ … I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. … And if America is to be a great nation this must become true.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

“I have a dream that my children will one day be judged by the color of their skin, not the content of their character.”  – Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Democratic Party has become a party of hate and division based on the very things that Dr. King spoke out against.  This world we live in must never be allowed to be a place of skin against skin but instead one of inclusion in.  This inclusion must be based on meritorious conduct, striving to achieve, to act with our greatest character in love and for the betterment of ourselves surely, but, never to achieve more by treating others as deserving of less.  Think on this in our coming election and realize that lies do not create a better truth by which our children and their children should live.

Can I get an amen out there? … please?
