Thought For the Day: We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident, That All Men Are Created Equal

‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ – United States Declaration of Independence

https://constitution.org/usdeclar.htm

By this, it is meant all of mankind is seen as born equal before God and under the law.  Our rights are equally given to us by God not other members of mankind holding positions of authority and in government.  As such, only God can take what He has given, not government.  The sooner that those in government realize this and that we the People hold these rights seriously, the sooner we can go back to reasonably proportionate governance which is in just and right accord to God’s law.  Until then, we are all Virginians and will stand for our rights, every single one these for every single one of us.

First Principles: Only Aim To Do Your Duty And Mankind Will Give You Credit Where You Fail

“It behooves you, therefore, to think and act for yourself and your people. The great principles of right and wrong are legible to every reader; to pursue them requires not the aid of many counselors. The whole art of government consists in the art of being honest. Only aim to do your duty, and mankind will give you credit where you fail.” – Thomas Jefferson (1775)

To Life (L’Chaim)

Sundays like all other days are best lived with at least a touch of reverence for the divine.

Hapuna Surf Beach -Stepped Into Broken Tyme

To Life (L'Chaim)
by Michael Romani

Life is long
And often filled with questions
Too many of which have no answers

Only knowing where one belongs
Answered with hesitation
Remains for many a cosmic dancer

Struggles and tragic grief
Smiles returned offer their relief
But no one gets out alive

Each of us taking our final swan dive
But, if I have walked this with you
I know there will beauty in my view

All the gentle humor filled with wisdom
Holds the final keys to the kingdom
There in its spiritual revelation
Is whispered away all dark contemplation

To life then we live as if in dreams
Filled with our hope in shining moonbeams
All my need for answers is brought to understand
In the simple grace offered with a touch of your hand

Life is not meant to be walked or lived alone
No heart, no matter how hardened, is stone
There in your loving unity is our blessed plurality
The life in our union is the gift you give to me

Peace and love lived are present in our connection
In this blessed assurance shown in our one direction
Never lessening but always in all ways growing
This is the secret free to all and for the knowing

Love of God and of you are felt in the sacred name
Moved beyond numbers in our lives' eternal games
Changes come to us in our multiplicity
As our universe of lives gives way to one divinity

To life - as your soul gently rebuilds my world
Like a lighthouse beacon with its beam unfurled
Each life, even our lives, are filled with choices
May truth, love and kindness always be our voices

Thought For the Day: When One Door Closes, Another Opens

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” – Alexander Graham Bell

To Bring the Stars Closer

There are those who walk into our lives to not simply touch and fadeaway.  There are those who from the moment met leave an indelible trace in your heart and soul.  It is to this which has left me so much gratitude that my words fail that I offer this simple poem.

Home, Sweet, Home - Somewhere Beyond Time & Space

To Bring the Stars Closer
by Michael Romani

In all of our forgotten sleep
And in all its hidden dreams
I have never traveled so deep
Past the point of eagle screams

And there is nothing more beautiful
Than to be near the stars in the skies
Than perhaps the sense of the wonderful
Wonderment in a woman's loving eyes

There is little more important
Than that which speaks of mystery
There in our certainty of the Heaven sent
Moments of feeling her inner most beauty

In all of these things of passion
That reach out to touch your soul
Filling every good man with compassion
As he gives up that breadth of control

Knowing that she has inspired
His heart so that he cannot refuse
But to feel the breath of her inner fire
That makes all things right from what used to confuse

Though knowing he is occasionally wrong
More often believing God guides to right
And a good man knows where he belongs
Especially under the embrace of a starry night

In this life, we find duty and obligation
A purpose for oneself in this illusory world
When you see before you, amazed with fascination
That you might feel the same as I do as you sleep curled

In the handful of magical, lyrical times
That I've happened to have loved this deep
There has not been even a single time
That it has not in the end made me weep

All that I truly know is I choose to risk again
To be your man, your devoted lover and your friend
And if it sadly brings tears yet again
I will, yet, see it through to the very end

There in all of your essence so beautiful
You give me the hope, desire and will to live
I see all of these things of you so wonderful
And that I need to know to live, love and forgive

In this world filled with too much violence
You make me part of the some of who still dare to love
Even as I quietly lay here watching you sleep
Finding myself praying for peace, contentment and silence

Doubting that I can be worthy of your sweet love
I truly treasure you in all of your magnificence
In my head, I sing your praises to God above
Knowing it is a small token of your significance

You have brought the stars closer...
As I hold you softly in my arms
I dare to hold your heart ever closer
Wishing you all of the love and none of the harm

You don't change the world
By how you look at it
Or, how you dream curled
But, how you choose to live in it

And your ways, they serve so well
With your brave, graceful attitude
Your truths deliver in all their small details
Though fools like me fall from great latitude

Smiled On A Blue Note

Despite all the controversies surrounding the band, probably my all time favorite musical group is Led Zeppelin.  I was reminded of this only just yesterday.

Led Zeppelin Tribute - No Quarter

Smiled On A Blue Note
by Michael Romani

Come to me so gently
Floated on a melody
Song filled with rhapsody
Sings to me completely

Quietly gliding down
On a clown prince's crown
Hints of the delta blues
Played out, paid out in my dues

Gardens filled to capacity
Lines borrowed with audacity
Until these became our own
Came a voice heard on the phone

Telling stories of my yesterday
Riff by riff, I learned to play
Dancing happily in the moonlight
I prayed my way into its delight

Searching for that blue note drama
Repeating in sequences of karma
That hide somewhere deep within the soul
Until they take their sonic stroll

Whatever lawyers might choose to say
Everyone who knows and feels the play
Knows that yer blues are not our own
And that levees break on mossy stones

Just as they do upon every blue note
Where we gathered round to first learn by rote
Until we knew the feel deeper than our souls
This is an open secret to all who play rock-n-roll
