First Principles: A Universal Peace Will Never Exist But In the Imaginations of Visionary Philosophers Or the Breasts of Benevolent Enthusiasts

“A universal peace, it is to be feared, is in the catalogue of events, which will never exist but in the imaginations of visionary philosophers, or in the breasts of benevolent enthusiasts.” – James Madison (1792)

Twinkle of A Teardrop

Thinking about magical things these days.  Dedicated to the beauty of a new year’s beginnings and all things wonderous as Celtic heritage running through the veins of those who bring meaning to my smiles.

Solar Moons - Pegasus Prances With Christmas Magic

Twinkle of A Teardrop
by Michael Romani

In the twinkle of a teardrop smile
There's a bit of magic impressed in her style
Lighting up the sky this very night
Particles in colors drift into sight

In a wished upon wish to count of three
There was something innocent in her beauty
Over fields of flowers, snow white in purity
As gracious as the gift given in its divinity

A dancing beauty in all of her elven delight
Dusting a trail of diamonds shimmering bright
Second day in this year of new beginning
And every moment of it spent in my grinning

A luminescent moon shines through the trees
Lighting a smile that is very sure to please
There is something in that elven magic so pure
That whispers perhaps of a turn of Druid's cure

As if she was true born as a mystic queen to reign
The chorus of awes arrange themselves in refrain
A silence of dreams scatter across through my head
Visions of love carve their path through words said

Wished upon a lovely wish that dreams may come true
The feelings brought to rise in time spent with you
To dance with you and hold you closer than I dare
Looking into the eyes of the magic shining there

First Principles: Laws Made By Our Representatives Should Not Be So Voluminous That They Cannot Be Read Or So Incoherent As To Not Be Understood

“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” – James Madison

With the Clarity of 2020

Rung in the New Year having discovered how to get YouTube to work on my television via Ruku both of which items appear to be smarter than I am.  Via this, I was able to get the KTLA Tournament of Roses Parade watched without all the incessant commercial breaks taken by the other station that I will not name but choose not to watch… All of this to say that I got my tradition of the parade in and from that.. is this:

With the Clarity of 2020
by Michael Romani

On this first day of 2020
I'm looking forward with clarity
Out into the 21st Century
With courage, hope and sincerity

New Year's resolutions in place
And a dreamer's smile on my face
My best foot is put solidly forward
New changes coming to which I look toward

An origami crane brings its tranquility
As I take in the Rose Parade scenery
Through the years, it has meant a lot to me
All of this glorious beauty and pageantry

It hints at the path leading home
The selfies shown hint that I'm not alone
It's said that it takes a fantasy
But, I think its really down to faith and family

The marching bands strike up perfect cadence
While floral float dazzle in brilliance
The reminder given is to spend life living
With all the whimsy of love that is forgiving

There's a sense of closeness and community
That no matter where I am has meant much to me
This year's theme speaks on hope and equality
And this too means very much to the likes of me

As I think back on all the fabled history
Behind what has brought about all of this legacy
I think also on all the women whose lives I've shared
I can't help but think of a better reason to have cared

Thought For the Day: When A Person Has Done Their Duty To Their People and Country, They Can Rest In Peace

“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.” – Nelson Mandela

Standing On the Ledge

Today, dear readers, is New Year’s Eve.  I do hope each and every one of you has a truly beautiful, safe and wonderful New Year’s Eve! May your night and new morn be filled with the 20/20 of recalling nothing but the best of past moments, may your present be filled with happiness and hope and may all of your tomorrow be better than all of your yesterdays!

Happy New Year 2019!!

Standing On the Ledge
by Michael Romani

Watching the clock toward the end of the day
Hoping to find right words as they get in the way
Waiting for tomorrow, trapped by yesterday
Finding myself at moments with nothing to say

Hope smiles from somewhere out on the edge
As I find myself standing on the ledge
Whispering a shout that tomorrow will be
And that "will be" is part of the journey

Happiness like a friend waits to get it right
Smiling a dream insisting that we have all night
Ringing in the love of truth and what is right
Tomorrow's frosty morn is still sunny and bright

Too much to drink they say is barely enough
Though it might just leave you feeling a bit rough
I'm going to write each day indelibly on my heart
Self assured played soft and loud in counter-part

One part counted sweetly on a tender melody
Three parts enamored in their constant harmony
Twenty Twenty is convinced she'll be my year
I'm not one to argue as I lift my cup in cheer
