Fairy tale endings do exist. You just have to believe in love with all of your heart and soul.

Letters In A Wall

In a thread between the past
And a whisper of the future
Letters in a wall will last
Beyond the dreams we nurture

Holding onto our dreams
Even when we wake with screams
There is beauty in what comes together
As we push forward into what's better

I watch as you put your hands on your hips
And I press my kiss on your sweet lips
You say that I know you're always right
While I'm beginning to see the light

Our universe finds its way to the possible
Hidden inside all that we find probable
Fallen hard into that maddening crush
Feeling our inner bliss with no real rush

Fixing all the things we find broken
In between a dreamer's words spoken
All of these things that make us
Are the truths that happen just because

Love letters meant to always be read
With thoughts you kept inside my head
Promises made pass into an eternity
Hopes of you and mine grown into family

A beacon of light shines into happy ending
The best day of my life was our friending
In your heart I'll build my dream's home
From this moment, I'll never be alone

Beating the Odds

Life’s will to survive is a remarkable story.

Beating the Odds

Heat of day and cold of night
The Great Dying came with a fright
Two Hundred Fifty years ago
Nearly all life died as you might know

It's in the deserts of Karoo
That we find the ancestors of me and you
We owe all of what is normal to me and you
To that plucky, scrappy bit of few

A ring of super volcanoes exploded
And over 99% of life simply imploded
The oceans became acidic and lands dry
But, it was those scrappy few who did defy

They weren't the biggest and baddest who survived
Nor through which all life was revived
But, sleepers below the earthen ground
Like the meerkats we still have around

Now under our brilliant sun beaming
We find life again resplendently teeming
From the deepest oceans to a mile underground
Everywhere we look, we find life abounds

With all the solid punches she has taken
Mother Nature continues as though unshaken
Life always finds its path to survival
Through all extinctions there has been revival

In a myriad of shapes, sizes and ways
Life's variety has brought our diverse days
Each finding a mastered fit and place
Beating the odds and challenges of life's embrace

Ways of Survival

In the long and short of it, life is really about survival.

Ways of Survival

And so at once, we reach our arrival
That everything that happens is about survival
Each Fall we are reminded of this
A though with a rake of leaves, we might miss

Our beautiful blue orb can seem so angry
In every lethal revolution made without empathy
Mother Nature is a passionate serial killer
Often smashing dreams of immortality like a chiller

Still thoughts of this often leads to regret
Our dear mother has a face we'll never forget
Funny to think on and then decide
That we couldn't be here without mass suicide

Mass extinctions seem like a mad tea party
When we sit back and look at the Earth's history
Survival is a daily struggle overcoming fears
And accepting this totality with our passing years

Limited resources spent trying to just stay alive
Guesstimating at best what it takes to survive
In in any second, we might reach our end
Life is so fragile in all that we must depend

Slipping away as reviewed frame by frame
All the quiet good moments we reluctantly name
Skipped stones ripple reflections of our life
Believing in peace but always finding strife

We cry out the name of what we most love
While praying for blessings of mercy from above
We do what we do to keep on pushing on through
All in the name of survival it's what we'll do

Putting out the fires of life one by one
Praying to God that we won't be undone
That's the moment of our most serene arrival
When we realize it's all in the way of our survival
