On Classical Liberalism

Classical liberalism without its foundation resting on God’s law is devoid of form, function and suitability in the governance of mankind.

LEA1: Colors of Wu - Chaos Under Construction

On Classical Liberalism
by Michael Romani

Looking back over the course of history
It seems to be no great mystery
That there is no way for secularism
To stake any claim in classical liberalism

Over the pertinent role of Christianity
Despite the inclination toward inclusion and diversity
Until recently, there has been the greatest respect
Toward believers and very few who object

To reject Christianity is to reject classical liberalism
Despite the fact that we must allow for pluralism
To do otherwise is like throwing rocks at the moon
Because of Constitution presupposes Christianity as a boon

Our government is unfit for all but moral, religious people
The kind who abide by God's law under the steeple
True as their souls in their lives' fit testimony
Others refusing this law can only live lives of acrimony

Perhaps the time has reached it final arrival
For the voices of both reformation and revival
The classical liberal order is not a throw away
But, rather the course on which we must stay

The American experiment is for freedom and virtue
Not just for outward conformity by any belayed view
To be a civic good, all that is virtue must be free
Because of true civilization is built on and by liberty

Licentiousness does nothing but ruin and shatter
Where it is applauded, society is soon in tatters
There are natural boundaries to legitimate freedom
Looking around at our ruins, it becomes easier to see them

It is readily identified in all that demagoguery
That makes up the pretenses of advocates of full democracy
Looking on the decadence such impudence always brings
It's sadly easy to see the ruins of our once great thing

Faltering Voice

In the 21st Century, even the simplistic person can find himself into complexities…

Theater On the Hill - Deeply Spaced

Faltering Voice
by Michael Romani

In faltering voice, I confront my ghosts
Sometimes demonic; sometimes heavenly hosts
The too many troubles that have hit
Getting me through those times that I try to forget

Simplistic in my troubled complexity
Riffed off in jaded bits of intricacy
Played straight in heart filled melody
Glazed over in a storm of malady

Sometimes alarmed by all my yesterdays
That found me wishing I knew what to say
You say you love when I up and stumble
If you could see inside, you'd see me crumble

My sinking ship lifted by life's rising tide
Feeling my life pulled along for the ride
There's a dark place deep in my cosmology
And it pokes holes harshly in my theology

It hasn't been the calmest voyage to my today
But God promised a safe landing along the way
Though it might seem more than a little brash
I am prayerfully certain that we'll survive the crash

At the end of my thrash of unholy day
When God has finally caught up to my wicked ways
I hope they'll speak of me in terms of my purity
There in the spread gospel of my eulogy

Past the passages of my gilded absurdity
Caught up in suggestions of authenticity
God help the questioner of my solid integrity
As I tip forward into the edges of eternity

Just A Little Broken

It’s the way of mankind.  We’re all just a little broken – even the best of us.

Amrum - Breaker's Point

Just A Little Broken
by Michael Romani

Everyone is a little broken
But that remains almost unspoken
While we sit around the table
Composing our life's fables
Knowing this is where we belong
Holding it together and being strong

There's always something new
Beneath the traditions held as true
And something new to every kept fresh
Every tale from the heart has the same address
Every day finds its own inspiration
Wrapped up pearls coveted with dedication

It seems the seems the harder to get
Is nearly always the harder to forget
As long as we're serenading fools
Instead of someone else's useless tools
And the stars will find a way to align
Somehow we know everything will work out fine
