Angel Falls (Recalls)

There’s a lot of power in the water that flows on this planet of ours.  Like the sun .. but a lot cooler.. it is a bringer of both life and destruction….

Dethly Island - Sunrise Beach Hangout - Pelican Falls

Angel Falls (Recalls)
by Michael Romani

Angel Falls like an echo of time recalls
Down over the steep ledge and along the walls
Clear, crisp and beautifully warm
Rolling down with the thunder of a storm

The force present shows its awesome power
Beautifully dangerous in its every hour
Persistently, consistently, rock is worn down
Crumbling away never again to be found

The pageantry flows as destroyer of mountain rock
Surely, it's true that it must come as no shock
Until finally it melts forming islands in the sky
Taken in by those like with me with our soul's cry

It seems that the earth itself begins to speak
Looking down from the tall mountain's peak
Flowing and mixing in its special sort of chemistry
Pouring out as the bearer of life's best mystery

Stardust into life warmed through with some heat
With the spark and added water that begs and entreats
Until with that jolt of kinetic, electric energy
The magic is worked and becomes the storm's synergy

Dynamically crackling in a flow of nonstop lightning
The bolts criss-cross in the sky fierce and frightening
As it ignites with its sheer coursing surge of power
Present in our newborn Earth's moments of every hour

Early Earth semi-floating in its primordial soup
Was constantly charged in a self feeding loop
Mixing and blending all of the organic material
Into systems of life that seem complexly ethereal

We have learned that life started in the ocean
Mixed with hydrothermal heat's bursts of commotion
One element serves as the back bone of all of life
Though now it turns up mostly in death's last strife

Death like life is a part of the cycle around
Full of mysteries to be sought after and found
Much of which is found in the flow of water
To understand the complexity of life look no farther

Between Heaven and Earth

A whisper of a prayer…

Serenity's Heaven - Shipwrecked On Coastal Rocks

Between Heaven and Earth
by Michael Romani

Between Heaven and Earth
There is a gate
Between light and dark
There falls a shadow
Between faith and sin
A whisper speaks a prayer
My deepest confession
Lies in my heart
Between God and myself
I need a miracle
Between weakness and strength
Are my mistakes
Between love and remorse
Are my heartbreaks
Between birth and death
I live my life
Between wrong and right
Lays my darkest night
Between happiness and sorrow
Is the knowing of my wrong

Downsizing

I used to know someone who would tell me about tiny houses.  So, it was sort of an interesting surprise to see that Netflix has a series that premiered today about these.  It’s amazing how much it turns out can be packed into these.

Eclipse Tiny Place

Downsizing
by Michael Romani

Downsizing to find a right solution
Seems size isn't everything in this contribution
A tiny home nation seems a class act
Having its own special kind of impact

Maybe I should have listened better
To words of my used to be go-getter
But where I am now watching this alone
And thinking on what it might be to own

Keeping it simple and not complicated
To be different in kind but it seems exaggerated
Dialed in might be an important set of words
But, that kind of focus seems not to have occurred

As I watch dreamers drunk on baked motivation
Stoked on tons of dreams and grand ambition
Ideas of design are needed to replenish
All of this just to get to the finish

Paring down to learn to breathe and live
It's inevitable that something has to give
What might seem a bit too ragged and flawed-some
Turns out before my eyes to become something awesome

It's there in the tough love of finding space
Filled to the brim filled edges needed to embrace
Too close maybe bites when pushed into being too soon
Learning to nestle in with love will save this honeymoon

An emotional sense of brashness needs its panic room
To find their way to happiness from impending gloom
All of this comes ripe in finding the just right fit
Defining the art of compromise maybe just a bit

It all comes down to the things of communication
Working together to create a suitable destination
There in that togetherness so often sought
It comes down to what each other shares and brought

It's easy enough to see how this has become a home
With each ready to go tiny and blend in not alone
I can see now the appeal of this sort of a dream
There now in the credits of this closing scene

What Is Art?

I was sitting on a swing in a virtual world and thinking on how beautiful the build was that had been designed to evoke and memorialize my dead family members and close friends who had died before their time and in a wave of 27 in the space of a couple of years.  It crossed my mind to wonder on just what art is.  Surely this build is at least in my mind and heart some of the best art in my world.

Home, Sweet, Home -Love Remembered - What Is Art?

What Is Art?
by Michael Romani
What is art?
I don’t think I know
Despite my best efforts
I think sometimes it shows
I see people seeking comfort
In so many ways
That it sends my mind spinning
And my eyes in a glaze
Some folks talk
About beauty and meaning
But there’s so much out there
That seems too demeaning
Filled with ugly, dread and fear
That limiting art to beauty and meaning
Seems to deny parts of truth
In favor of dreaming
A look at the word’s origin
Fails us once more and again
Ars, meaning craft and skill
Seemingly eludes those
Who toss spatters at will
And have often chose
To organically go with the feel
Of an erratic spill
Turning my mind to philosophy
I think really hard on axiology
Studying form and expression
In their fundamental representation
There in the mimesis of imitation
Soul sought in its initiation
But this is not the only value
Measured in emotional hue
Evoking responses of the heart
In attempting to define art
Some have looked toward equality
Judging in terms of formal quality
Rhythm and balance in harmony
Are but part of art’s inner unity
It’s a world filled with determination
That waiting eyes see with each rendition
Views taken in with each circumstance
Each era breathing new happenstance
There’s little that is empirical evidence
Where much is left up to providence
This often escapes my conceptuality
All for the sake of some originality
An originality that seems to escape us all
Though we hang it on our every wall
What is art?
I don’t think I know
Despite my best efforts
I think sometimes it shows
I see people seeking comfort
In so many ways
That it sends my mind spinning
And my eyes in a glaze

First Principles: It Is the Influence of Christianity That Has Brought Civil Freedom and Social Happiness Which Mankind Enjoys

“To the kindly influence of Christianity we owe that degree of civil freedom, and political and social happiness which mankind now enjoys…. Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government, and all blessings which flow from them, must fall with them.” – Jedidiah Morse
