Hurts To Be Human

Another lousy day misspent… but hey.. a poem..

Remembered Love - Lost

Hurts To Be Human
by Michael Romani

It hurts to be human
It's human to feel hurt
Capturing this in the moment
Filled with grief and torment

The annals of our history
Detail the facts of tragedy
And yet hope feels our legacy
For century after century

Shadows dancing on our walls
As we seek after elusive truth
And in the end, who will recall
All the dreams of our youth

Still we suffer for our dignity
As we seek our ends in serenity
Living for the love and peace
We never knew to release

Instead of gathering it in like treasure
As life takes our forlorn measure
And still I'm glad to have walked with you
Always holding on to what we believed was true

Eulogy For the Profane

The last few days have been painful.  I wonder if that means I’m growing?  Isn’t that the saying “no pain, no gain”?

Raven Mist- Face To Face With My Mortality

Eulogy For the Profane
by Michael Romani

They say profanity
Is the sign of a lazy mind
All stops to my vanity
I wonder what they were hoping to find

I've never been one
To think myself clever
Instead, mostly undone
With most of my endeavors

But, always willing to try
Again and again 'til I get it right
No matter how many times I'd sigh
Doing my best to take things light

Would it be too much to show appreciation?
I ask with weak feigned fascination...

Today, they tell me I lost another friend
He was always one on whom I could depend
My mentor, my friend and my boss
And if I look a mess, it's well felt loss

An aneurysm took him from us today
Like a train wreck, I cannot look away
I whisper all of this to myself
Feeling the grief in pages from my shelf

Knowing that I can't tell this to you
After the things I say and that I do
But, I have no one else despite the strain
While feeling like you hold me in disdain

Charles was the very best among good men
We would share a whiskey every now and then
As he did his best to offer sage advice
About how all our decisions in life have their price

I would sit there doing my best to listen
Knowing that in slurred speech where were points missing
And as I would think on all his soldierly ways
I thought he would be a friend for all of my days

All the times he caught me as I was falling out
Every time he urged me to believe in me despite my doubts
I lift another whiskey to his honor and his glory
He was the best kind of a soldier's story

He made it back to carry on with his duty
Caring for others until death took him so rudely
And quietly and quickly like the reaper's whisper
It makes me think and from this I infer

I wish I could talk to you and tell you and ease my pain
Gazing into your eyes of love and not of disdain
But, instead I know I caused you too much pain
And the hope that you might still love me is insane

Waiting for a funeral and your last goodbyes
And all I can do is hang my head and cry

Listening To God

There are times I come to find that I wish I had listened more deeply and with much thought before acting instead of always being caught in reacting.  It seems a lesson that I continually learn.  The mistakes made have such a huge price.  If only I might have discerned first?

House of Prayer - A Silent Prayer

Listening To God
by Michael Romani

Declaring that you're Christian
But living for your own thrill
Is what brings contra-distinction
Of choosing your own and not His will

Getting caught up in the wrong flow
Instead of heeding counsel on how to go
Listening or just doing all of the talking
Makes the difference in saying and walking

Taken in as to how and what we must refrain
Makes the difference of peace or living strain
To do this we must identify His clear voice
This is how we come to our best right choice

In so doing, we determinately make our stand
Heeding with every breath, His Holy command
Checking our decisions for scriptural consistency
Resisting all else if it isn't in honesty

Obeying God often takes us beyond human reason
Requiring us to stand outside our season
But, God knows us beyond our earthly desire
Often testing our mettle by His burning fire

The Holy Spirit feeds our contemplation
Delivering us to walk by our fleshly temptation
Challenging our faith and calling us to be brave
Still, in the end, we know that Jesus saves

God's calling gives us each the power to do
In each intimate moment lived by me and you
God does not shout but does shine brightly
Speaking with the truth to be heard quietly

We must walk humbly before the blessed Trinity
Meekly heard in the night spent so silently
It's there when we listen so as to learn
That we come to grow and wisely discern

Thought For the Day: Excellence Is Not An Accident; It Results From High Intention

“Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance, determines your destiny.” – Aristotle

Life Giving Water

The secret elixir of life on our blue planet begins with water.  Beyond on this, we must look toward the mixer of this with energy and stardust, our heavenly Father.

Grauland - Swirl A Whirl

Life Giving Water
by Michael Romani

Too many eyes looking where we're going
Too busy living to really be enjoying
Learning to look back into our history
To perhaps our greatest bit of mystery
That moment that turned dead rock into living
And started that all of the all that we're giving

A living, breathing bubble seen from space
The only life so far, we've found to embrace
Magically, it seems, all of this fell in place
With beauty and love written on Earth's face
It all seems so simple and yet it's not
For far too many, our journey has been forgot

It's hard to conceive that primordial brew
A crackle of energy, water and stardust becomes me and you
Almost all real evidence has long since departed
All the same, we can say very contently hearted
That as we ponder life's biggest questions
The star studded sky has never known hesitation

All of the earth's life began from the stars
That exploded from a way up distant and far
Scattering across the breadth of the universe
Stardust becomes life in more than the poet's verse
From death to life, we are one with the mix
But, from where and by whom is the pickled fix

Thousands of years old caves in places like New Mexico
Tell the tale of the world's journey from so long ago
There is life in these ancient cavern walls
A kaleidoscope of organisms glowingly recall
That water has brought life in the darkness of night
Bacteria grows and live without the presence of light

Tiny one celled membranes brought to life by water
Like a preview in the aftermath of creation by the Father
Scientists say that all of life depends on water
Trying hard to exclude the providing of water by our Father
The of life is found they say in life giving water
Forgetting that the igniting spark remains our Father
