Seeking the Favor of God

In days of old, God sought out after even one righteous man.  He found him in Noah.  The following is based in part on Genesis 6:5-7:

The World's End Cafe - A Walk Into Time II

Seeking the Favor of God
by Michael Romani

In the fabled days of antiquity
The world became one with iniquity
A loveless world hard to embrace
God searched after one faithful face

All seeing; never able to be blind
God regretted creating mankind
Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord
In so doing, he became salvation's sword

The lesson to be drawn isn't so odd
But that we should walk in the favor of God
Avoiding the certain destruction of our tomorrow
By making our ways pleasing not those of sorrow

We must seek to heal and not to add injury
Living life's of joy spent in His divine energy
Acceptance and support should be our intention
These are what bring the Lord's eternal provision

God's presence in our lives burns holy fire
That guides us to our every righteous desire
Bringing the best that might truly inspire
The absent of this is perhaps equally dire

The Lord's love is necessary to save us from sin
Poured out on each of us as needed again and again
There are consequences in choices in our life style
That can be questionable and result in our denial

We can check this by what other might deduct
From the witness of our character and our conduct
Watching carefully the words chosen in conversation
And how these match an outsider's observation

All of these things hold their particular relevance
As evidence for the loving touch of divine providence
And where these things seem to be a bit amiss
It is wise for God's children to pay attention to this

God has gifted us all with the ability to truly listen
Not just hearing but yearning to be truly blessed then
In taking in the lessons that we each need to hear
And from these knowing and growing as we persevere

Pouring It Out

I am not certain.  But, I think that maybe self inflicted is sometimes the worse loss?

Pouring It Out
by Michael Romani

Tossing and turning
I just couldn't sleep
This kind of hurt
Is soul deep

Self inflicted tears
Welling up in my eyes
There's no one else to blame
I more than realize

Pouring it out
Just to breathe it back in
In penance to doubt
I've lost my love and best friend

Thought For the Day: Love Is Friendship That Has Caught Fire

“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.” – Ann Landers

Leaving No One Behind

It’s estimated there are 65 million displaced refugees around the world.  That’s a hard number to take in, isn’t it?  What would God have us do?

Leaving No One Behind
by Michael Romani

When you see your sister and brother
In trouble, do not remain silent
It is yours do and no other
Each of us eternally strong and vigilant
Leaving no one ever behind
Keep this always in your mind
As you travel your life's journey
We are all as part of God's family
Help those who need your hand
Keeping in action and heart, God's command
You'll never have reason for apology
Knowing we are all as part of God's family
Sixty five million refugees need our hand
Is it all that hard to understand?

No Coincidence

An ardent atheist Issac Asimov was so startled by the number of improbables that allow live on the earth to thrive that he wrote a piece on that and the odds he tabulated were astronomical.  He couldn’t bring himself to believe in a God of any sort.  But, he did comprehend that what we have here is nothing short of a miracle.

No Coincidence
by Michael Romani

The systems of earth science
Are seen as with no coincidence
To be an organism that is living
Often resilient and by nature forgiving
All the systems working within one together
To stave off heat and to allow living better
Even in diminishing the sun's heat
Where the rivers, rain and sediment meet
Trapping carbon dioxide in the ocean's floor
It is these sorts of things that are hard to ignore
That all of this works together is extraordinary
And yet, unbelievers deny God calling this ordinary
As though they are individual Hubbles unable to see
Clearly and to know our edge of the improbability
To me it seems an insurmountable bit of deference
And so I hold this in gratitude to God in preference
Thankful for all and not just lucky but blessed
As science discovers all the interlinked and confessed
Missing the number of chance events that allow us to survive
I am just thankful for each moment that I am alive
That we're alive -
That any of us survive -
Let alone that we actually thrive

First Principles: Government Is Founded On the Necessities of Our Nature and the Unchangeable Will of God

“Government is founded not on force, as was the theory of Hobbes; nor on compact, as was the theory of Locke and of the revolution of 1688; nor on property, as was the assertion of Harrington. It springs from the necessities of our nature, and has an everlasting foundation in the unchangeable will of God.” – James Otis

Thought For the Day: Find the Ones Worth Suffering For

“If she’s amazing, she won’t be easy. If she’s easy, she won’t be amazing. If she’s worth it, you wont give up. If you give up, you’re not worthy. … Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for.” – Bob Marley
