Thought For the Day: One Day You’ll Walk Away Never Realizing You Were My Life

“One day you will ask me which is more important? My life or yours? I will say mine and you will walk away not knowing that you are my life.” – Khalil Gibran

Fades Away

Life leaves us all, eventually… or, do we really transform into something else? Time will tell.

Raven Mist- Face To Face With My Mortality

Fades Away
by Michael Romani

Being somewhat civilized
I kept my discontents to myself
More probably cause I realized
I'd find my better answers from a shelf
Looking into the annals of human wisdom
Paying penitence forward for the kingdom
There are some things we don't forget
Like a friend's last breath and the regret
Deeply pitching to lasting exasperation
Held onto with our best of intentions
Least that friend's passing no longer matter
Though at that moment we thought we'd shatter
The chattering classes have it all wrong
They'd be surprised at just how strong
The weak can be in their last moments
And how the strong some times give into torments
Instead of wise words, it's too often just a gasp
Struggling to hold on with one final grasp
And that's how it was that dark, cruel day
When I watched you silently fade away...

Ozone Care

Another of the Earth’s little protective systems is that fragile shield call the ozone layer.

Kicca Igaly Artwork's Gallery -Glide Rider Into Mindfulness

Ozone Care
by Michael Romani

Gliding through the ozone with good care
Minding the healing of this protective layer
The Earth, she is a living, breathing thing
Generously offering more than we humans bring

Mankind found we could together
Find a way to make this all the better
And in this truth, we must turn to embrace
That without the ozone layer, there'd be no human race

As the ozone layer emerged back some 3 billion years
Life arose from the waters to begin our parade of tears
Oxygen was merely the waste product of the earliest days
And with a turn became the protective layer in a daze

That allowed land life to develop and then survive
And in turn for that life to explore and thrive
Taking the tentative steps onto dry land
All in chain reaction to God's invisible hand

Thought For the Day: Government Has No Right To Control Individual Liberty Beyond What Is Necessary To the Safety and Well-Being of Society

“Government has no right to control individual liberty beyond what is necessary to the safety and well-being of society. Such is the boundary which separates the power of the government and the liberty of the citizen or subject in the political state.” – John C. Calhoun

First Principles: The Abolition of Slavery Is the Great Object of Desire In Our Early Republic

“The abolition of domestic slavery is the great object of desire in those colonies, where it was unhappily introduced in their infant state.” – Thomas Jefferson

On July 1, 2019, Charlottesville stripped it’s celebration of Thomas Jefferson’s birth from its holidays due to his involvement with slavery.  Jefferson has a very complex history filled with seeming contradictions when seen through our eyes in our times.  He worked tirelessly against slavery while having slaves.  I think it’s horrendous that we are now applying our present standards against his legacy.

Stripped from the Declaration of Independence by delegates from South Carolina and Georgia was this language drafted by Thomas Jefferson:

“He has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating its most sacred rights of life and liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere or to incur miserable death in their transportation thither.  This piratical warfare, the opprobrium of infidel powers, is the warfare of the Christian King of Great Britain.  Determined to keep open a market where Men should be bought & sold, he has prostituted his negative for suppressing every legislative attempt to prohibit or restrain this execrable commerce.  And that this assemblage of horrors might want no fact of distinguished die, he is now exciting those very people to rise in arms among us, and to purchase that liberty of which he has deprived them, by murdering the people on whom he has obtruded them: thus paying off former crimes committed again the Liberties of one people, with crimes which he urges them to commit against the lives of another.

(1776) The Deleted Passage of the Declaration of Independence

Strong On Defense

The Sun is one part friend and one part foe.  It’s amazing thinking of the ways the Earth protects us from this.

Strong On Defense
by Michael Romani

What is the strength of the solar flares
To measure this, we look at Mars and fear
That is to say that despite there being no doubt
That the orbit of Mars is systemically further out
Solar flares are the very thing of what set in motion
As the cause of why Mars has lost every one of its oceans

Earth has always been strong on defense
With part acting in concert and impertinence
From the edge of space to the deepest ocean
All of the Earth acts in self protective promotion
To protect us from the ravages of space
Some of which comes from the sun's bright face

Never look down into the nose of a volcano
Unless you need to and are prepared for the show
It is there that we can have our closest study
That imparts lessons needed about our solar buddy
Every step to be watched closely along the way
Will get us all the answers found each day

Fissures and vents provide the freshest supply
By which to study the heated elements in reply
Radioactive lava from the Earth's molten core
Help provide explanations by which we may explore
Teaching us the ways of our magnetic field
As it deflects radiation with the power it yields

Aurora Borealis offers its glowing satisfaction
As a beautiful shield of protection we see in action
A green and red mass shape shifting in its dance
Visually offering a colorful curtain full of romance
Seeing this through eyes and also felt by our hearts
It becomes one with the observer each in their due part

Deceptively weaponized is sun's precious gift of light
It can be overpowering or seen as protector from the night
When pressed at its zenith it is a deceptive assassin
Ultra violet light causing its damage again and again
Sizzling up in its inferno of burning sensation
The UV rays can be murderous in their penetration

Those Who Have To Shower

How did the alleged party of the working man in my country become so elitist and based on class division?  Go watch the last Democratic debates and see how many references were made to those who have to shower after work.  I get that these folks are professional politicians but when did they get so intimidated by hard work? Or, so absolutely pandering?

SL13B - Electrify - The Stairway Lies on the Whispering Wind - Visiting the Same Moon We're Under

For Those Who Have To Shower
by Michael Romani

There is a new sort of trope
In which elitists see others as dopes
The working class who have to shower
After work to be presentable after hours

They find this a way of signaling their touch
I wonder if they're out of synch much
What causes them to debase
A significant portion of what was their base?

Some do say cleanliness is next to prosperity
But it seems a huge swipe at voter integrity
To believe that some must hold their pride
And let slip by such a moment of classist divide

To embrace a populist flourish without the people
Bespeaks of a different sort of steeple
Where prayer is just a bargaining chip
And common people are considered less than hip

When people are ignored but for their belief
And called clingers to guns and God and given grief
That party so speaking has lost its voice
And the people need to remind them, they have a choice

First Principles: Failing To Pay Attention To the World’s Details Prevents All But A Few From Seeing and Discovering God

“That the discovery of this great truth, which lies so near and obvious to the mind, should be attained to by the reason of so very few, is a sad instance of the stupidity and inattention of men, who, though they are surrounded with such clear manifestations of the Deity, are yet so little affected by them, that they seem as it were blinded with excess of light.” – George Berkeley
