As If Nothing Else Matters

As If Nothing Else Matters
by Michael Doyle

How do you protect Russian speakers
By bombing them into oblivion?
Mix up that experiment in your beaker
You say you're doing this as a guardian?

Returning to the homeland of the Rus
While treating the natives as if refuse
Waste that cannot be used and is buried in a landfill
Tell me then, Valdimir, of your wicked thrill

A three prong of attack and still you stall
As "Little Russians" stand firm as a wall
False flags with patience stated as limited
Will Belarus be pulled in as has been predicted?

Kyiv sees her fruited jams all turned to black
Knowing full well the risk of imminent attacks
As intelligence is provided by a chief of the FSB
Beseda attempted to bring down the Defense Ministry

Making it empathetically clear this is Putin's war
Odessan children won't cry tears any more
Scenes from a poem or a movie seem turned surreal
But the city trembles realizing this is too real

Ukrainian grandfathers fought Nazis on their tractors
This historical vision acts to encourage and bolster
The courage of Ukraine armed with sticks and stones
Maternity wards are bombed and the grandmothers groan

It may be lucrative to forget what cannot be forgot
The tyrant may yet win but street urchins will plot
These are the riches that exceed all the world's money
In this land blessed with plains of wheat and honey

A forty mile long Russian convoy stalls
As Ukrainian bodies stand firm as walls
Willing to keep on living; refusing to die
As the world watches and collectively sighs

It's unbearable, these things we have seen
Children plea from eyes grown older than human beings
Whose souls are worn down to sheerest tatters
Poets and dreamers carry on as if nothing else matters

First Principles: For Although They Knew God, They Did Not Honor Him As God Or Give Thanks To Him, But They Became Futile In Their Thinking, and Their Foolish Hearts Were Darkened

“For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. …” – Romans 1:21-32

Though it will likely never be seen, this is our message at Aloha Promises Forever to Mr. Putin. Though there is some talk that one of the reasons you are destroying Ukraine is some mistaken belief that in so doing you are acting for the Orthodox Church, there is nothing Christian in what you are doing. Turn back from the evils you are doing. Bombing to death those who seek only peace, harmony, and to live in liberty can never serve God’s purposes.

Thought For the Day: We Live In A World In Which We Need To Share Responsibility…There Are Those Who See the Need and Respond. I Consider Those People My Heroes

“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say “It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.” Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.” -Fred Rogers, television host, songwriter, and author (20 Mar 1928-2003)

The Knife Slipped In

The Dunes of La Vie 2020 - Between the Blades
The Knife Slipped In
by Michael Doyle

With the surrender of human freedom
The therapeutic class becomes a fiefdom
Each criminal a victim of circumstance
Simply put they have become marionettes of happenstance

Those meant to help come to equally defend
With the incomes and career on which they depend
The academic elite takes its decided pass
In creating the conditions of an underclass

In a philosophical decomposition into permanent wards
Moving as these are and do, ever towards
When virtue signaling meets self-interest
It's a virtual cuckoo's nest of the self-confessed

Describing lives lived in victimhood and passivity
The knives slip in with ever greater receptivity
The will of the killer is removed to almost nothing
Now tell me, mother, isn't that really something?

Caught up in so many vapid rationalizations
As the government offers its self-serving justification
Instead of responsibility for abandoning virtue
It's everyone else's fault from the criminal's view

Caught up in a lawless consensus of pessimism
Instead of doing better, it's easier blaming re-activism
In an endless cycle of self-fulfilling bereavement
They waltz on by the reality of Asian-American achievement

Some politicians rather than accept risk and liberty
Have attempted to mask us all into a hapless mentality
With arguments unconvincing to all but shrill partisans
The people become reduced to subjects instead of citizens

Is our role to be relegated to a welfare state
In which colorless technocrats seal our fate
As we are relieved from the daily stresses of living
By turning a blind eye and constantly forgiving

Until finally, life becomes a spooned out good
Instead of insisting on a civil society understood
Speech and freedoms read are our best, simple advice
Rather than becoming serfs to the bureaucratic price

First Principles: Republics Are Created By the Virtue, Public Spirit, and Intelligence of the Citizens. They Fall, When the Wise Are Banished From the Public Councils

“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” – Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833

First Principles: Energy In the Executive Is…Essential to the Protection of the Community Against Foreign Attacks

“Energy in the executive is a leading character in the definition of good government. It is essential to the protection of the community against foreign attacks; it is not less essential to the steady administration of the laws; to the protection of property against those irregular and high-handed combinations which sometimes interrupt the ordinary course of justice; to the security of liberty against the enterprises and assaults of ambition, of faction, and of anarchy.” – Alexander Hamilton (1788)

Our Everything

Happy St Patrick's Day!!
Our Everything
by Michael Doyle

Not just important, but our everything
Our reason for all and the joy of our being
No compartmentalizing, but our purpose
Our every reason with nothing to presuppose

All things through and of God to love
This truth we must keep above
All else that we say and we do
This truth must always be kept in view

Christ be the one thing we place first
The bringer of light and quencher of thirst
Every part of our life is an altar to the Lord
Creating the plowshares that we push forward

Life is to be lived in full engagement
In heart and attitude as our encouragement
Going forward in our Great Commission
We pray over our life's ongoing mission

It all come down to placing trust
And if you're living in faith, you must
I would rather be ashes than dust
It's what it comes to as a matter of trust

Thought For the Day: America Is Another Name For Opportunity. Our Whole History Appears Like A Last Effort of Divine Providence In Behalf of the Human Race
