A Dance of Fate

Chess Wonderland - Spun Out
A Dance of Fate
by Michael Doyle

Life is more than merely fate
It is never really too late
To realize that we have choices
Lifted up in our true voices

If only we might choose
No longer allowing life to abuse
Examining what we might refuse
And refusing to allow blindness to confuse

Subtle are the decisions we might make
In choosing which of paths to take
Never placing fault or cursing blame
But instead choosing how we might frame

These things that happen as circumstance
From rushing forward as if in happenstance
Leaving as little as possible to chance
While giving the past a mere glance

Over the shoulder as taken on this ride
Where it is that destinies do collide
Troubled less as if oceans churned
In their fullest depths yet to be discerned

Thought For the Day: A Judge Has A Duty To Decide Cases Based Solely On the Law…Empathy Should Not Play A Role In A Judge’s Consideration of A Case

“A judge has a duty to decide cases based solely on the law … [T]o the extent that empathy is defined as one’s ability to share what another person is feeling from the other person’s point of reference, empathy should not play a role in a judge’s consideration of a case.” – Senator Mike Lee

First Principles: We Should Look Upon the Different Parts of Government With A Just and Impartial Eye

“In observations on this subject, we hear the legislature mentioned as the people’s representatives. The distinction, intimated by concealed implication, through probably, not avowed upon reflection, is, that the executive and judicial powers are not connected with the people by a relation so strong or near or dear. But is high time that we should chastise our prejudices; and that we should look upon the different parts of government with a just and impartial eye.” – James Wilson, Lectures on Law, 1791

Every Name Has Its Story

Playa El Angel Revisited -Dax's Angel In Bergamont and Rosemary
Every Name Has Its Story
by Michael Doyle

Every name has its story
In each way, giving God glory
Jesus is the first born priority
Given to us as our authority

First place in everything
Our inspiration for which we sing
Beloved and holy, putting on our heart
Putting the Lord first from the start

Wearing all of the Godly ways
Dressed in habits to embrace all our days
It's a matter of needed fashion
To live our lives in compassion

It's not what we feel
But the the things we do that reveal
Taking our steps into action
To bring blessed satisfaction

The word of God dwelling within
Thankfully singing each hymn
All in for God in every interaction
Living holy bring that best satisfaction

Aligned with God in our prayer
Starting each day with utmost care
That the will of God must be done
This is how we know the Father and Son

Everything we do is to bring the glory
With serenity of heart in our story
Always we are giving glory in representation
To never have to press for explanation

In this way, we gain our inheritance
Facing the world joyfully in temperance
Every part of us surrendered in the all
However hard it is for us to recall

First Principles: There Is Not A Man Living Who Wishes More Sincerely Than I DO, To See A Plan Adopted For the Abolition of Slavery

“There is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do, to see a plan adopted for the abolition of [slavery].”  – George Washington (1786)

When you hear the nonsense spouted by the 1619 Project or any of these reverse racism pundits speaking their Marxist/Marcusism punditry, recall that a) slavery was imposed on the then American colonies by Great Britain (that refused to allow these colonies to abolish slavery); (b) that then the American South became dependent on these reduced labor costs for their economy; (c) when things become habitual, it becomes harder to throw off; and (d) it was the blood of white soldiers who threw off the chains of slavery for their black American brothers and sisters. Also, it is worth noting that judging a past age by the moral standards of today is biased, unfair, and consists of little logic or even rationality. The beauty of the human race is that we continue to strive at becoming better. None are perfect. None ever will be perfect. The one man who walked among us who was perfect was Jesus. He was nailed on the cross for that.

Thought For the Day: The Ideals Which Have Lighted My Way, and Time After Time Have Given Me New Courage To face Life Cheerfully, Have Been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth

“The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth.” – Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel laureate (14 Mar 1879-1955)

I’d Rather Be Ashes Than Dust

London 1940 the Blitz - Shaded Victory
I'd Rather Be Ashes Than Dust
by Michael Doyle

I'd rather be ashes than dust
I'd rather throw deep when I must
Taking the risks to succeed
This is the satisfaction of spiritual need

Faithful in all that we do
Ready in capturing God in our view
Unafraid to fight for this in priority
This then is the securing of our legacy

Standing strong in our connection
Unafraid of our world's rejection
Step by step we're making our connection
Spreading the Gospel in every direction

It may be that we're living in the end days
It will be too late to put on Godly ways
People get ready, the change is coming
Not to be an incessant preacher drumming

Putting Jesus before all other things
Regardless of whatever tomorrow brings
Living life for the Lord's glory
Each of us a part of his blessed story
