“I hate deception, even where the imagination only is concerned.” – George Washington (1779)

Watched a bit of a show that reminded me of the folks out there who suffer from PTSD. From that I got this:
Voices Cry by Michael Doyle The voices crying into the night Its hard to take this light Hauntingly these echo in my mind Though I thought these left far behind You know that I know, I should have done All the more than I know that I've done To change the way these things went down Crying to myself like somebody's clown It's no good to say I did my best Or, that I did better than the rest In the end, my friends are still dead This bleeds inside my tortured head Some things will never change You can't make normal out of strange Though that's not normally on my name I hold myself to account for my shame They pinned a medal on me But it doesn't block my memory Unfinished sentences that don't need to be said There too much trouble inside my head (c) July 30, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
Based in part on 2 Cor 5: 20:
Living As Ambassadors of Christ by Michael Doyle Are we out argued in our role As ambassadors who are to extol The virtues of our Christian life To be the peace and not the strife Yet still telling truth in every way Doing the Lord's will every day The gospel has to be preached If our commission is to be reached Presenting the truth in our example Giving our evidence openly ample Providing as we will the good of our case Living the love of God's great embrace Hell is real and is not a made up story To not perish we must live for God's glory Accepting His yoke of true born liberty Teaching the path of the only divinity (c) July 30, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
“I believe there is a limit beyond which free speech cannot go, but it’s a limit that’s very seldom mentioned. It’s the point where free speech begins to collide with the right to privacy. I don’t think there are any other conditions to free speech. I’ve got a right to say and believe anything I please, but I haven’t got a right to press it on anybody else. … Nobody’s got a right to be a nuisance to his neighbors.” – H.L. Mencken (1880-1956)

“I suppose, indeed, that in public life, a man whose political principles have any decided character and who has energy enough to give them effect must always expect to encounter political hostility from those of adverse principles.” – Thomas Jefferson (1808)

Talking to a friend who was feeling in a rut and then the same theme showed up in a song and then a show. From this came two things. First wow.. if you don’t like what you’re doing or how it’s happening, change it up. Secondly.. this bit of a poem.
Stuck With the Blahs by Michael Doyle Betwixt and between You know what I mean Needing new meaning Like all human beings Down in the dumps Having had taken my lumps Seeking to pass life's test And I'm doing my best Muddling through as I can Still hoping to become the man That I always wanted to be Despite my flawed humanity Finding out what matters In a world filled with tatters Seeking to keep it together Hoping my story comes out better The feeling came without warning Finding me this morning Suddenly without any good cause I'm stuck with the blahs No one gets better By pretending to be together Or by running away Just one foot forward, day after day The world has to keep spinning If there's to be the winning Until then, I'll muddle through This I promise me as much as you (c) July 29, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
“Out of every crisis, every tribulation, every disaster, mankind rises with some share of greater knowledge, of higher decency and of purer purpose.” – Franklin Delano Roosevelt

“Where there is no law, there is no liberty; and nothing deserves the name of law but that which is certain and universal in its operation upon all the members of the community.” – Benjamin Rush (1788)

The world is a sometimes scary place, particularly when it comes to the heart, isn’t it?
To Find A Friend by Michael Doyle To find a friend In this friendless world Toward this end I lay fetal and curled Is to find that one thing Most precious of all With more worth than gold can bring When my back is against the wall There is too much darkness For one soul to survive Alone in all of the harshness Willing myself just to stay alive Because to find a friend In this friendless world Is the truest of ends And to let my fist go uncurled There in that magic of trust Where one heart finds another They beat together as they must Each depending on the other Bathing in the purity of light That we share as our home Guiding each other through the night In the dream of never again being alone (c) July 28, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
“I have said that the Declaration of Independence is the ring-bolt to the chain of your nation’s destiny. … The principles contained in that instrument are saving principles.” – Frederick Douglass
