Thought For the Day: The Most Wonderful of All Things In Life Is the Discovery Of Another Human Being With Whom Your Relationship Has Glowing Depth, Beauty and Joy As the Years Increase

“The most wonderful of all things in life, I believe, is the discovery of another human being with whom one’s relationship has a glowing depth, beauty, and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing, it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident.” – Hugh Walpole, writer (13 Mar 1884-1941)

First Principles: The Battle Is Not To the Strong Alone; It Is To the Vigilant, the Active, the Brave

“We are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of Nature has placed in our power… The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” – Patrick Henry

Finding Joy In the Tears

Based in part on Ecclesiastes 3:4:

Finding Joy In the Tears
by Michael Doyle

In looking back on my many years
I am finding joy in the tears
There in the sweet music for my ears
Is the finding of joy in the tears

From the laughter to the mourning
From darkness of night until morning
A life is full of joy and sorrow
A passing of yesterday into tomorrow

With a flash of remembered smile
It's all been worth the while
For the comfort in all that we mourn
Such is life from the moment born

Here in these moments of contemplation
Where I find your love and my redemption
Are the best of things to think on
Until that final moment when all is gone

We hope; we pray; even as we grieve
Knowing the meaning behind what we believe
All was possible that we might conceive
With only the devil of doubt to deceive

Laughter can bring strength in our disbelief
Quite often more it's instant stress relief
But most of all it cures our times of grief
And this too brings us back to belief

All these moments we stop to question why
Choking it down with laughter as we reply
It's better to smile a laugh than to cry
Maybe that is the secret to answering why

In looking back on my many years
I am finding joy in the tears
There in the soft music for my ears
Is the finding of joy in my tears

Finding Our Time In Waiting

Based in part on Philippians 2:13:

Finding Our Time In Waiting
by Michael Doyle

Patience in waiting is hard to do
I wonder if it's the same for you
Yet, waiting reminds us of our need
For God as the we know and plead

That we must each have an intervention
One that often comes as an intermission
This comes often when we've turned away
It's a time to regather and reclaim His day

It's  a time before failure and success
That which we need to come out best
This then is the time we need to renew
Our relationship with God in His view

And from this we are re-energized
Becoming more than we've realized
We can be to God's greater glory
Remembering the doing of His story

It's God who always gets things done
Despite the fact we think we're the one
It is He who is truly the necessary
We tag along despite sometimes being contrary

There is the good we find at the cross
Trembling as we at the gain and loss
As learn and do our very best part
At the foot in prayer to His sacred heart

First Principles: There Is No Government Capable of Contending With Human Passions Unbridled By Morality and Religion

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.“ – John Adams, in his Address To the Military (October 11, 1798)

On the Losing Side of History

A piece dedicated to the ending days of Bernie Sanders’ attempt to hold a revolution.  It begs the question, “What if they gave a revolution and nobody came?”.

Velvet Design -As American As Mom & Apple Pie

On the Losing Side of History
by Michael Doyle

Sanders lumbers on as on the Left but not woke
Never acknowledging his beliefs as proven broke
Pretending the nonsense spoken is practical
Though his beliefs aren't even sound on their theoretical

It's a march of wonderment at masculine toxicity
But in his own mind he wears this as being legendary
It seems that his Leftist base don't want a blender
To mix a cocktail of rights when it comes to gender

As the Left once again divides by class and identity
And may politics forbid we ever speak the truth we see
Bent as his followers are toward gross intolerance
His partial support rings hollow not as brilliance

You see as the socialist emperor's clothing shows
To be threadbare as he tells what little he knows
It seems that for a sporting chance they will not defer
To his appalling lack of anything close to character

This man of voraciously evil and twisted fantasy
Is nothing less that the epitome of tragic toxicity
You know something is wrong when even Ms. Hillary
Talks about one of her own as nothing but baloney

Steeped with an pro-Iranian tatters of sympathy
Champion to an often discredited ideology
Sanders's people are best at factional infighting
Rather than being inspiring let alone enlightening

And so it seems that President Trump's optimism
In any debate with an opponent who does not do criticism
Is one that bears the merits nothing but alienation
And not as a voice that can leader our nation

Still, it's just more of the rubbish and double talk
That most of the Left carry with them as they walk
Disappointed it seems in all those American dreams
While the Democratic Party falls apart at the seams

Even as they stop and take a moment to peek
Down from their ivory towers and even speak
The elite looks down its nose at the people
As clingers to the Constitution, guns and steeple

Jesus Wept (Ephphatha)

God took the form of man and lived experiencing all that we do.  In so doing, He experienced all of our feelings.  Based in part on John 11:38:

Jesus Wept (Ephphatha)
by Michael Doyle

One of the best secrets never quite kept
Is the simple truth that Jesus wept
There in the midst of His felt agony
Jesus lived out His fullest Humanity

Unnecessarily acquainted with grief
His heartfelt tears brought relief
In the good and bad and large and small
It is worthy to remember and recall

The angst felt in the Garden of Gethsemane
Teaches us the depth of God's agony
Felt so deep, tears fell like blood
Mixing into the dust becoming holy mud

Memories of Eden lost and to regain
The result of man's sins in being so vain
With a single touch He invites us to open
And in so doing, in our way home again

With a groan coming from a deep place
He grasps His divinity in full embrace
Far beyond what words can convey
Jesus reached within to become the way

In our blessed redemption, creation groans
As if in childbirth, freed with its moans
Fallen so far in all of our brokenness
God grants His mercy with outspokenness

Though undeserving we are given mercy
And welcomed inside as one of God's family
Missing out so often on the holy symphony
Deaf ears fail to hear beyond felt cacophony

Missing out on the sounds and the melody
So many things that can move us deeply
Until the unstopped ears are opened to hear
And the truth of God becomes abundantly clear

With a glimpse cast toward heaven and new earth
We mere mortals can take hope and have mirth
Knowing our Father has measured out our worth
Keeping our eyes fixed steadily on true north

Until then, When pain and loss have grown vast
And storm clouds circle way too fast
There is comfort in knowing He too felt
Yet took courage despite what He was dealt
