Crawled From the Crypt

Does anyone remember a very old television show, Dark Shadows?  When I was a kid, they tell me I would cut through the woods after school let out instead of taking the bus and run some 3.5 miles to catch it every day.  I was always fascinated by that sort of things back then.  Anyhow…

Nocturne-Vampire the Masquerade- Candles Burning

Crawled From the Crypt
by Michael Doyle

There are no limits to what men will do
Of this much, I know to be true
Unsealing doors meant to be sealed forever
In vain pretense, it's seemingly clever

Curious in habits that breed suspicion
Bleeding truths out only by forced attrition
There is a dark shadow cast over acts
That cause the truth seeker to fight for facts

There's too much cost to the silence
Hiding behind veiled threats of violence
What is it then we are trying
And is it worth the cost paid in the buying

Into the graveyards of storied yesterday
The grandfather clock strikes tomorrow's way
Some would pick the locks of secrets kept
Chained in the sorrow of yesterdays wept

Troubles trembled into living the now
In borrowed sorrows reborn today somehow
The push of the pull of the strong willed
Uncloaking darkness that should not be revealed

Unchain the coffin to let the evil out
Sledge hammered to remove all residual doubt
Be careful of what we wish for
Is a well advised adage hanging on fate's door

Given In Our Father’s Measure

Based in part on Luke 6:38:

House of Prayer - Pastor Brett Offers Another Encouraging Message

Given In Our Father's Measure
by Michael Doyle

Give unto the fullness of our own measure
We will know and give our heavenly treasure
It's on ourselves to set rightness in motion
To be the pillar of understanding in our emotions

Being the bigger person is to be that holy light
So very needed in this world's darkest night
Bringing the melody of our music to the song
Of a loving world in which we all truly belong

Anathema as it is to the world's duplicity
It's right to bring togetherness in simplicity
Of being and doing all that we can set tempo
To ignite the spark that flame of change we know

That the world needs and that God wishes sown
So that His love is spread and convincingly shown
It's not a name it and claim it theology for you and me
But one in which we welcome all to God's generosity

All of this in a world filled with harshness and blindness
Is that it starts with you and me to be the kindness
Being grateful in all that we do and say along the way
Is the start needed to face all throughout the day

This is the path to purposeful and true abundance
By living life in all of its fullness and resplendence
If you build this kind of life around you all will come
To find their way easier to our Father's kingdom

You have to have faith to learn to walk on water
You have to keep the trust to walk with our Father
To think that we only give what we are given
Is to almost completely forget that we're forgiven

It is up to us to hold and spill out the best seed
In the giving of our all we find all that we need
The blessings we give we more than we regain
It's the truth of the joy heard in sweet refrain

Kindness done to the least is doing unto the Lord
It's repeated often enough as to be almost implored
To freely give is to be given to just as richly
Like a boomerang love given returns abundantly

All of this is set by the standard that we each set
Fullness of measure decides the treasure we get
It's there in our best of  each and every transaction
The result of things gained by our words and actions

All of our lives amount to doing unto all the others
Remembering every person as a sister or brother
Always centered on all the very best we can give
Principle centered on others as we breathe and live

First Principles: The Ingredients Which Constitute Energy In the Executive Are, Unity; Duration; Its Support; and Competent Powers

“The ingredients which constitute energy in the Executive are, first, unity; secondly, duration; thirdly, an adequate provision for its support; fourthly, competent powers. … The ingredients which constitute safety in the republican sense are, first, a due dependence on the people, secondly, a due responsibility.” – Alexander Hamilton (1788)

Glass Onion Reality

How many layers of conjecture do we need to peel back to find true reality?  Is it even possible for us to comprehend?

Glass Onion Reality
by Michael Doyle

All things, all times, all places
Bear the burden across all faces
We've pushed to avoid the eventuality
Of what has become of this reality

Despite the urge to preserve
It seems all paths lead to fear
When none of the answers known
Have proven true as shown

Everyone grieves in their own way
Each soul searches to find end of day
As the false world crumbles down
And the survivors pick up victory's crown

A murder of ravens follow like a shadow
Across the pillars of all previously known
It becomes incalculable in transparency
As we face the new world with hesitancy

Yet, it is that we simply must
Take the risks and chance the trust
Believing our own eyes as we look
God shapes His fist and then it is shook

The mind is one of God's dominions
Peeled back in layers like a glass onion
In our pride, we struggle to be first
Surrounded by water, we are dying of thirst

Sparked up with the currents of life
Our hardest limits being imposed by strife
But, if only, we would live fully in peace
We would live best the path of sweet release

Pandemic Confronted

On looking slightly back at a day of visitation with two princesses who mean all the world to me and reflection on the current events of our times.

Kontucci Magical Forest & Park - 新年快樂 (Happy New Year for the Year of the Pig)

Pandemic Confronted
by Michael Doyle

What a day to roundly irrational
In those moments feeling somewhat confessional
But here on the very day of Pi
I had to look my eldest in her eye

Choking on my reply that I am one at risk
Said what a hug smiled but somehow brisk
This sarcoidosis that's tried to kill me
May very well yet bring an end to me

As this Covoid-19 hits numbers epidemic
And the fear mongers insist it's pandemic
I know that all of my bravado is of no recompense
If it brings to me my worse consequence

I told her with all the warmth of my embrace
Smiling my love into her loving young face
That the Devil himself is afraid of me
And that God doesn't know quite what to do with me

I laughed away any trace of misguided fear
As I hid deep inside my indwelling tear
Telling her that keeping calm is the right answer
Diplomatic as ever, the wordplay dancer

Celebrating an early Saint Patrick's Day
Showering both my young angels with love along the way
Wanting our first meal in a long time together
To be the thing serving their memories so much better

Part of how they might spend the last day
Knowing their imperfect father and his ways
Until hugging them the day's end goodbye
I'll see you soon Dad, they said, I choked on my reply

Keeping my tears deep within my heart
Instead joking as I watched them depart
Sent off with another bad joke of my telling
But the loneliness after was soul revealing

Desiree

A poem written for my lady love in thoughts of her as I have spent time away today reflecting on the time passages and changes to all of our lives since this pandemic has begun.

Candyland II - True Love Is My Desiree

Desiree
by Michael Doyle

Looking at you gives me butterflies
A smile at the love in your eyes
Fallen in love so completely and fast
I pray to God that this will last

Your heart shines so bright
Like a windowed candle in my night
Bringing me to the best of me
You are my heart's desire and destiny

When I hold you, I hold my dreams
Day by day, making it as real as it seems
You are my loving Desiree
My forever girl until the end of my days

Two hearts put through life's wringer
And still it's my soul on your finger
We spoke of everything in 12 hours conversation
Enough to know you are my final destination

The whisper is that love is blind
I can only prayer we are always kind
Since our first night together
I've believed this can only get better

When I hold you, I hold my dreams
Day by day, making it as real as it seems
You are my loving Desiree
My forever girl until the end of my days

Despite all obstacles and come what may
None of these will ever get in the way
At least, that is, not for long
I know my heart's choice and where I belong

This our hearts and this is our souls
Deeply driven almost not in our control
Moving forward in the right direction
You are my deepest love connection

When I hold you, I hold my dreams
Day by day, making it as real as it seems
You are my loving Desiree
My forever girl until the end of my days

Thought For the Day: To Be Reliable, Full of Love, True In Affection, Predictable, Grateful and Loyal Are Difficult Standards For People To Live By

“Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to.” – Alfred Armand Montapert

First Principles: My First Wish Is For America To Be Free

“My first wish is for America to be free.” – John Penn, Congressional Delegate

Having been unschooled as a child, later in life John Penn availed himself of the advantages procured from a well endowed library taking this advantage to educate himself.  As his mind become more developed, he sought out the goal of and in so doing became quite the scholar of legal matters and became an attorney first in Virginia and then in North Carolina.

Though he died a respectable and peaceful death at the age of 46, during his life, he was a member of the Continental Congress where he advocated ably for many portions of what were the founding documents and principles of our republic.  He is a signer of the Declaration of Independence.   A lesson to be drawn from his life is that it matters little where one’s station in life begins but rather that proper application of one’s determination can lead a person to great things.  This then is indeed an exemplar of our American way of doing life.  A lesson well to learn and apply whatever a person’s current circumstances.

A Pi-Ku For Albert

Today curiously enough is Pi Day and the anniversary of Albert Einstein’s Birth.  So why now a Pi-Ku… What’s a Pi-Ku you ask?  Well, it’s 3-1-4  in format.

Exploratorium - Poster Eyzed Pi

A Pi-Ku For Albert
by Michael Doyle

Albert's birth
Seems
Began this age

For it's worth
Pi
Begins this age

Math numbers
Truth
For all to see

Tells all known
Flat
And without soul

Albert knows
This
Is a lie shown

Be the soul
Glow
In true glory
