Moments Spent

Spending time with my girls was an awesome experience as always.

Moments Spent
by Michael Romani

Spending time with these two
All of our moments are too few
Dreams shaping in their minds
Gifts of smiles of which I've been blind

Watching my daughters grow
Gives this father a happy glow
Though I've been kept away
Our reuniting has made this Valentine's Day

One of a very special sort and kind
All of me I thought left so far behind
Comes out in all they do and say
I see this even in the ways they play

Moments spent with them are my home
Times apart, cleave me to my bones
Finding that they are the best of my heart
And that I lose a bit of my soul when they depart

Every moment spent in its connection
A flow of love spun in each direction
There in all of their beautiful smiles
Are all the reasons, I survive despite the miles

All the obstacles and all of the troubles
Put in the way of our love could even redouble
And it would still not kill our special love
It's as if it remains guided from the above

Suddenly brought from thought into my present
As my eldest takes my hand and my tears relent
I smile into her crystal blue eyes in all their glory
Knowing she like me will come to write her own story

I hug my youngest girl close as I can to me
And I know as I look at her all her endless possibility
In each of them I see a bit of my very best
I take pride in their noble spirits that will not rest

First Principles: There Exists In the Economy and Course of Nature, An Indissoluble Union Between Virtue and Happiness

“There exists in the economy and course of nature, an indissoluble union between virtue and happiness; between duty and advantage; between the genuine maxims of an honest and magnanimous policy, and the solid rewards of public prosperity and felicity.” – George Washington (1789)

In Memory of Presidents Day

Although I truly believe there should be a separate Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays celebrated in the US, I get that I’ve been outvoted… soooo…..

In memory of our fine presidents that we have had throughout our country’s history:

Long may freedom reign!! And please recall as you head into voting this coming year, socialism equals the end of our republic….

Valentine Thoughts 2020

Beautiful weekend spent in part with two little princesses that I adore and a lady who is the queen of my heart.  One later for the girls.  One for my lady just written:

Home. Sweet, Home - Oh, You've Had Your Nails Done?

Valentine Thoughts 2020
by Michael Romani

To be loved for who I am
Truly and unconditionally
It's like hitting a grand slam
I feel you so intimately

There in the core of my soul
Moving beyond appearance's deception
To a space and place out of my control
Soul deeply, we make our connection

Hearing that love song playing
Somewhere in the back of my mind
You know that I'm not just saying
You're the girl that I've been waiting to find

Talking for hours, the first time we met
It's the breaking down of all of my walls
Your heart is the one I will never forget
And I'm hoping you will always catch my fall

I'm giving you everything that I've got
Laying it on the line with all my heart
Knowing that you're all I've ever sought
Knowing that I've felt this from the start

I am finding myself down on one knee
Asking if you'll please be my wife
I've always heard true love is blind, you see
I need your sweet smile for all of my life

Feeling as though I'm floating in a dream
At moments this has been and felt soul surreal
Hoping with all hope, this is as real as it seems
Walk this forever walk with me; let's make it real

The truth of your beauty is deeper than sight
It's there in our connection closely approaching Zen
There's nothing about you that doesn't feel right
Open up your heart, sweet darling, let our life begin

Place In the Kingdom With You

Based in part on 1 Chron 12:32

House of Prayer - Names of God

Place In the Kingdom With You
by Michael Romani

Sculpting away the outer shell
Until at last we find and reveal
The best that we can truly be
Given way until with His eyes we see

The best of possible outcomes
We stand to serve the Kingdom
Everyone hears words of the wise
Built on the rock we greet each sunrise

Failing too often in what we execute
Sometimes it seems the world prosecutes
The goodness of our best holy plans
Until I am left wondering if I'm the man

Who can be the man who can be better
Chasing vapors in the windblown letters
Of words that we must make come true
Doing less than good in seeing this through

We need to look inside for our inventory
Assessing where we are in God's story
And reduce this to come to what we can do
The sermon heard cannot be more true

I must take the time to learn to truly see
Putting to death things that are not the me
That I need to be to be the man of service
To love God and you as though it's what I deserve

Always keeping my heart to what is true
I look toward our good and from this take my clue
On becoming more like the man I need to be
Anchored by your love even in my stormy sea

In all of this I number my day to gain wisdom
Pushing forward to count for our Father's kingdom
The question that we must most always ask
Is to do what's needed to keep prayer as our task

Silently discipled in my heart of  quiet time and prayer
Keeping away from those things I must beware
Habits formed and then conformed to His Divinity
I will walk and talk with you into our sweet eternity

Understanding the time we live in keeping hand in  hand
With you by my side and in my eyes helping to understand
I thank you for your love and how you help me to grow
The secret of your smile helps me to settle into know

The knowing of all good things  that we must keep and be
God could not have made a better heart to share with me
Than the truth of the love that you have always given
As I walk in your grace and God's grace knowing I'm forgiven

Step by step and page to page we walk the long of life
And I smile as you talk about how we'll be as man and wife
Maybe it's so hard for me to believe that I have found you
My dream of dreams that God means for us to make true

Recalled In Prayer

Having finally spent some very wonderful time with my beautiful daughters and being surprised to the point of happy tears of gratitude in finding out just how much my genetics have flowed into a lot of their perspectives on the world, I feel a bit renewed.  There is something in all of this that has touched my soul beyond any words that I can yet put to poem.  Meanwhile…

Bellisieria - Knightley - Water Falls Down On me

Recalled In Prayer
by Michael Romani

Offered hope when I am lost
Counselor of my peace, no matter the cost
My Father, our Father, who has often shown
Why we worship you on your holy throne

Your hands guide our healing
With your truth as soul revealing
I know whose name provides the frame
For the one who lived without blame

Crowned Lord of lords in your glory
We are but tellers of your story
All on earth owe you their all
Let us rejoice as we gladly recall

As notes within your everlasting song
Each of us fitting where we belong
Almighty Father, crowned Lord of all
Let us rejoice as we gladly recall
