Thought For the Day: Your Thoughts Become Words That Become Actions That Become Habits That Become Values That Become Your Destiny

“Carefully watch your thoughts, for they become your words. Manage and watch your words, for they will become your actions. Consider and judge your actions, for they have become your habits. Acknowledge and watch your habits, for they shall become your values. Understand and embrace your values, for they become your destiny.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Day From Night

After God said let there be light, He divided day from night…

(fae forest)- Caravan Moon

Day From Night
by Michael Romani

Earth in balance requires adjustment
With multiple areas of entrustment
But trusting in whom? Man or God?
And isn't it a bit overly odd
That with a long history of mistakes
Modern man too often embraces the heartbreaks
Of going against the grain and the flow
Of world that somehow just seems to know
Without any real reliance on mechanistic reason
How to change just exchanging seasons
As it has since the earliest of days
Long before any of mankind's ways
To both heat and then to cool
In flow of balance without man's rule
And how since the beginning of the moon
The drag of tides has called the tune
To form the basics of the twenty four hour day
Without a word of mankind's say
And to essentially get things just right
Since that moment that God divided day from night

First Principles: We Are Apt To Close Our Eyes Against Painful Truth That Is Capable of Transforming Us Into Beasts

“We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth — and listen to the song of that syren, till she transforms us into beasts.” – Patrick Henry (1775)

Power of the Moon

There is a tidal pull to the moon that is nothing short of miraculous.

Power of the Moon
by Michael Romani

The children must learn
The power of the moon
Pulled by tides we earn
Our keep from the ocean's boon

When the moon is full
The water goes further out
It is this on which we think and mull
Until we find no reason to doubt

Life is as dependent on the moon
As it is on our sacred sun
We understand this and pursue this truth soon
That there is a lunar scent all life begun

And as Inuit hunt mussels under the ice
We all learn the essentials to survive
The wise listen and learn from sage advice
And from this our people learn to thrive

As stars align and planets collide
The world put in motion began its spin
We humans are only along for this ride
This lesson is imposed again and again and again

Thought For the Day: In Your Light, I Learned How To Love

“In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.” – Rumi

First Principles: While Exploring Nature, Enchanting Scenes Are Endless

“As we passed on, it seemed those scenes of visionary enchantment would never have an end.” – Meriwether Lewis

I feel much the same way when I go hiking and in thinking on all the great beauty to be found within those areas that were part of the Louisiana Purchase….

Tricks and Tracks of A Natural Mind

Poetry in nature wherever and whenever it might be found is one of the best and most wonderful things that I’ve had the pleasure to experience in my life.

Milkwood Fox Rocks Poets Open Mic -Everybunny Needs Some Bunny

Tricks and Tracks of A Natural Mind
by Michael Romani

Sublimely wrangling with great confusion
Is that nameless impulse toward articulation
Nature and nurture dressed up in illusion
Offer their rough edges for our fascination

Tricks of the mind are often demanding
As poetry rescues our noble understanding
Awakening mind's attention from lethargy
Hanging our too conscious selves in effigy

In the dead of winter, in a contemplation of anguish
We find ourselves barely able to distinguish
The dull pains in our hearts from seas of pain
Nor, the psychosomatic from the barely sane

Enduring coinages billow into pantheism
Excluding the humanity from falseness of atheism
Brilliantly relational in helping to form our identity
Such then are the semblances of poetic integrity

There in the fidelity to the utterly abject
Is the purified language by which we object
To all of life's childlike simplification
As our inner poetry finds its need for vacation

Thought For the Day: Give Thanks In the Morning For All You Have and If You Find No Reason, the Fault Lies In Yourself

“When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.” – Tecumseh
