Thought For the Day: It Is Good To Polish Your Mind Against the Minds of Others

Further Destiny

Who are we to deny who we really are?

Nassau Stronghold - Ports O Call

Further Destiny
by Michael Romani

In a shivered ship of cold
He sang a song remembered from old
Ever bitter in its minding
Lost without hope of finding

That knife blade that sings
As the purpose of it brings
It's better to be done with breathing
Than to be self-deceiving

We must be who it is that we are
Like guardians of light gone too far
We must never give up to despair
Allowing our ships to shoal knowing where

The rocks that find their way to shatter
Cast away as if it really doesn't matter
With a simple splash that left its dash
The waves are broken like a thunder's crash

There in our further destiny
Where our hearts birth their legacy
We must be who it is who we are
Ever true to our best north star

Desert Skies

There are times that I truly miss driving through the deserts of the American West.  I learned and saw and lived a lot there.

Mirage Motel 66- Broken Windmill Acrross A Desert Sky

Desert Skies
by Michael Romani

Life for all its anguish is ours
It belongs to no other
We can spend it in the sunshine
Or, we can spend it in bars
Always seeking the company of one another
Always risking all in calling another mine

Love, or, so it nearly always seems
Cannot be taken but only given
Given as it can be not as it should be
Love, is the substance of dreams
Belonging to those who forgiven and are forgiven
In whatever sort of eventuality

So much of life looking like almost nothing
Until we dare to look ever closer
Recognizing the patterns of life's story
These are the things that cause us to sing
Never surrendering, always bending until "No sir"
We are then unwilling to budge from its glory

To the untrained, half blind eye
Desert country is built on skeletons
Sometimes it even seems completely empty
Out there under the painted desert sky
But, there is teeming life to all but the simpletons
Who choose to see only what they will see

To many assuming to have it all sorted out
Too few really holding anything close to a clue
So many searching only for answers they want
Like a long black train filled with no doubt
Certain of their track as the only track to do
With only a handful of us certain this dog won't hunt

There are those few with truly opened eyes
Who those others call artists and dreamers
Daring to truly see and live our dreams
Out underneath the expanse of open desert skies
Having had enough of egoists, conmen and schemers
Let us learn to recognize and live beyond the painted seams.

First Principles: Without Morals A Republic Cannot Subsist Any Length of Time

“Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.” – Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence

Tattered Hall

At times, life is a bittersweet drink and yet still it is what quenches our thirst.

Chevreaux Chateau & Restaurant - A Drink To Tide Me Over

Tattered Hall
by Michael Romani

With the tolling of the bells
The poet is announced dead
All the mystery and half of the spells
From his words roll on in our heads

Immaculately cancerous in suspicion
Seldom the subject of derision
The poet's song is ended
And the darkness of night is befriended

In the tattered halls left a mess
Lies the body of his sacred muse
There in her pretty summer dress
Lies the peace of the poet unused

But, instead cherished for herself
Not as an object but a valued soul
Whose words flowed like books from a shelf
Spoken freely as they would stroll

A few of the verses were quite tossed
Back straight, no chaser; neat not wet
Some of the meanings eventually lost
But the feelings were such as to never forget

Secular Ideal

To hear the communists and socialists tell it the 20th Century must have been the advent of civilization as they and the secularists strove to drive God out of the public square and it was sheer coincidence that it was the bloodiest century to date in humanity’s history.   Every reasonable person knows that we shouldn’t base morality on God, right?  Right.. the exact opposite of what I believe…

Exodus A Trip For Life - Beware the Puppet Masters

Secular Ideal
by Michael Romani

To hear the words that secularists detail
One must believe that history reveals
That the Godless rule better than believers
But instead history shows them as deceivers

Unintentional though it may actually be
But all the same victims of that misery
That can only be self-inflicted without meaning
Ignoring the sanctification of all human beings

Believing themselves lovers of truth though not
They lock themselves up in their dogma forgot
Strong in their belief in mankind's wisdom
Ignorantly stewing in the illusions to come

As the war to end all wars only led to more
And all the efforts at equality shut the door
The door of opportunity become as divinely meant
A shrewd discourtesy from difficulties lent

To these self deceptive riskers of our doom
Deafness is the striking chord of pending gloom
A look at the 20th Century spells it out
Millions dead as we killed off God in our doubt

Thought For the Day: No One Is More Privileged In America Today Than the Left

“Smollett staged a hate crime yet still has a job. Northam wore blackface and advocated infanticide yet still has a job. Fairfax was credibly accused of rape by two women yet still has a job. Don’t tell me about privilege. No one is more privileged in modern America than a leftist.” – Matt Walsh

It’s disgraceful.  The truth is not found or made to prevail by lying, cheating, stealing, extorting or resorting to violence.  The truth is found and walked with love.

Yes, I used Smollet’s crime as the pic on purpose and fully know that he has been charged.
