In The Truth of Murder

It’s said that Agatha Christie went missing for a short period of time and that no one has ever fully explained this…

Lemon Beach - It's a New Dawn - A Murder of Crows

In The Truth of Murder
by Michael Romani

The best of tales start at the beginning
Where we learn murder is often the wage for sinning
There it is said and perhaps it's just as well
Even in this sort of semi-cautionary tale

The truth of murder plays its hand
The real sleuth, she understands
That all of the pieces fit together
Like a jigsaw, only even better

Ink spills on an empty page
As the players assemble on this stage
Each it seems has their good reason
There at the summer's end of the season

Autumn it seems comes to fall
While the ghost of the wind comes to call
Murder she wrote until written no more
Like tiny hidden stains that beg for more

Memories called in remembrances' replies
Suddenly broken as her friend cries
There in the catch of the lover's voice
Is the stubborn fact that murder leaves no choice

Too many suspects with so little time
The authoress sets to solving her crime
Meaning so much while being so little
Stuck in the clues of her work, caught in the middle

Time passes as memories get older
All of the clues are growing much colder
A resolution to this mystery
Would be her lasting chance at legacy

The little girl inside her head
Reminds her its better to be alive than dead
Somewhere in that last will and testimony
The suspects are gathered in great acrimony

One of these it is who has done the deed
Of this much, it's indubitably agreed
But, then to the task as to which one
The solver of mysteries will not rest until she's done

Hope Over Fear

Based in part on 2 Peter 1:4:

Water Edge Town - New Life Christian Fellowship - Hope Too

Hope Over Fear
by Michael Romani

Precious promises hold the key
To the divine nature in you and me
Each of these bringing comfort to our souls
And in our worse moments, these console

In our best, we find our happiness
Knowing our blessings as God's recipients
Facing our trials in our every day
God remains with us in every way

Promises made for our miracles walk
That bring us courage beyond our talk
From times that challenge rising from regret
To the best of times, we'll never forget

Heirs of the promises read in His will
Step by step we live as these reveal
The faith that calls on us to be more
Abundant in our pilgrimage to restore

In Genesis, God spoke then proved his reliability
Shone in greatness to his fullest capability
Demonstrating at once the wonder of His majesty
Conducting endless joy as His believers' legacy

For just as He spoke, it came to be
As the Lord of heavens, it came as a certainty
Faith comes as we believed it would
All in His name and for our good

His promises are not written on sand
As His humble servants we understand
His resolution is as firm as granite
God in His ways is unchanging and infinite

Seeing beginning to end, He is no shifting shadow
But the promise keeper with an endless flow
No broken promises ever as part of His legacy
For the keepers of faith in all of our dignity

There is the deepest value in our honesty
A life well lived requires complete integrity
So then on God's promises we do greatly rely
Building our lives humble upon His reply

Choosing hope over our moments of anxiety
We move toward the simple over complexity
It's simply a matter of hope over fear
Putting our trust in God to persevere

Thought For the Day: Murder Is Murder; Every Undocumented Infant Deserves A Chance At the American Dream

“Please stop killing undocumented infants who are trying to cross the border of the birth canal in hopes of a better life. Every undocumented infant deserves a chance at the American dream.” – Matt Walsh

Reproductive rights, my tush.  If you want to claim that you’re for women’s rights, isn’t it time to protect the weakest in our nation – our unborn children.   If memory serves me correctly, more unborn little girls are murdered than little boys.  Talking about the most fundamental right of these little girls, their right at a chance at life…

Murder is murder.  Even with the more stringent version of this genocide more unborn children have been slaughtered for mere convenience than soldiers have died in our wars since, if memory serves correctly WW2.

Incidentally, the number one reason by far cited by those deciding to kill their children isn’t health.  And it isn’t rape.  And it isn’t incest.  And it isn’t the life of the mother.  It’s convenience wrapped up in the nebulous wording of a woman’s quality of life.  I don’t know anyone whose quality of life is increased by choosing to murder another life, especially one’s offspring.  Moreover, study after study shows that these convenience killings by and large have more negative sides to these than positives.

So, really let’s talk truth about this issue, shall we?

A fellow blogger that I respect made the point that God must be crying at this injustice.  I could not agree more.  What we reap, we will sow.  And that the Catholic church and/or any Protestant and/or Orthodox church or any of its members stands by without speaking against this outrage begs me to question their familiarity with the Bible’s teachings.  More than that, it goes against every Christian teaching about the paramount sacred nature of life itself.

In a direct message to a certain cardinal in New York…..

You Can’t Own (A Child of God)

As we stand perched on the edge of a new month, this poem is dedicated to the brave souls who fought together as brothers and sisters in Jones County, Mississippi, dedicated to the proposition that each person is equal before the eyes of God.  To this, I say, Amen!

The Path To Freedom -For Whom This Bell Has Tolled

You Can't Own (A Child of God)
by Michael Romani

You can own a horse
And you can own a mule
These are givens, of course
Let it be said like burning fuel
You cannot own a child of the Lord
They will die holding freedom's sword

That the thing about history
Whether or not it's legendary
The past is never really dead
Rolling around hearts and heads
History is never really even past
Its traces linger on and last

You cannot own a child of God
I'll say it again no matter how odd
You cannot own a child of God
God's children live free until under sod
Hats off as we sadly bury our dead
Our tears echoing inside our heads

If you intend to even really try
I hope you're fully prepared to die
A good soul knows what is right
We are all precious in His sight
As children of God, we are prepared to fight
This is the truth brought to light

In this twenty-first century, it's odd
But I'll repeat, you cannot own a child of God
No; you cannot own a child of God
We will live free until buried under sod
Fighting to free our brothers and sisters in legacy
We stand firm in our portion of living history

These are the ways of simplicity
A person is a person without complicity
To deprive others from God given liberty
Is the sheerest wrong of immoral duplicity
Live free when we can; die if we must
It is in God that we place this sacred trust

Rabbit In A Snow Storm

In Winter, a bunny will take calculated risk to get supper.  This is despite knowing the cold winds and snow.   This is done despite knowing others are hungry too.  Life can be like that…

Dimrill Dale -Bunny Boos Hidden In The Tall Grass

Rabbit In A Snow Storm
by Michael Romani

Well, suppose that there it is
They say this is my newish norm
Filled with a lot of ideas
That won't keep me warm

But there are some things
That just must be
No matter what tomorrow brings
These things bring comfort to me

Feeling a lot like Nero
I fiddle and I play
No longer the hero
Perhaps, I never was anyway

Like a rabbit in the snow storm
I push forward finding my way
Here struck in my new norm
When words are not to play

But the meaning
Lost within the dreaming
Are like thoughts inside
As life and I collide

Won't get where I'm going
Without the right questions
Struggling with employing
The right moves of hesitation

And that little bit of it
Might just take me down
What's killing me only hurts a little bit
It's a laugh on myself in my jester's crown

They say I stop breathing every night
Thirty two times in every hour
I don't want to believe that's right
This fix will take more than will power

I am afraid to close my eyes
Afraid of when I sleep
Lifted eyes toward snowy skies
Praying the climb out isn't too steep

Faithful to God even unto death
But, it's hard to pray when you have no breath
On the telephone, I hear my little girls sing
And know that they're the best and that I must cling

First Principles: Republics Are Created By the Virtue, Public Spirit and Intelligence of Their Citizens

“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.”  – Joseph Story (1833)
