Sidewalk Communication

The city is a place of connection in its own way.  Fusions of thought and experiences blend into that special something that helps the creative process.

MadPea Mad City - It's A Mad World

Sidewalk Communication
by Michael Romani

Hustled and bustled to the point of hassled
The move and boom of ideas we've wrestled
Across the overly busy lights and streets
We meet at the speed of the beat of our feet

As the sights and sounds accumulate
The cacophony begins to integrate
Subject to a million interpretations
We get on with our endless fascinations

Touched souls that find one another
Bumping along like pinballs into each other
Bouncing off graffitied subway walls
Hushed whispers are so seldom recalled

Yet, these speak sometimes louder than words
As life rushes by in its constant of blur
Sometimes the things least noticed speak
Swimming through the intentional deficits that pique

Into overheard bits through open windows
There is a fusion that flows beyond what we know
Moving at the speed of the city's sidewalk conversation
There is the plus of unintended insinuations

Together we find changed hearts given time
In the simple complexity that is often sublime
Those toss away trinkets we seemingly ignore
These often lead to the something better and more

Thought For the Day: We Are Too Great A Nation To Limit Ourselves To Small Dreams

“We are too great a nation to limit ourselves to small dreams. We are not, as some would have us believe, doomed to an inevitable decline. I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing.” – Ronald Reagan

We hear all the time that if it’s going to be it’s up to us.  We hear all the time that we are the people who we have waited for.  I believe this to be true.   There have been moments in my life when I felt very strongly that someone ought to do something.  I waited.  No one did.  So, I did.  Not that I”m awesome.  I’m not.  But what I am is proof that if each of us no matter our flaws takes that vital step forward, each of us can help make this world a truly better place.  Let’s do this! Let’s believe in each of us.  Let’s believe that we don’t have to wait for the sky to fall and that by not waiting, we take the steps, however tiny initially to work toward the good and push away the things we do not want and cannot accept.  We can and will do it. We just need to believe and do it.  Together is better… but even one by one there is great power.

First Principles: We Must Not Let Our Rulers Load Us With Perpetual Debt

“We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.” – Thomas Jefferson (1816)

Regardless of which side of the divide in politics we sit on, we should each recognize that leaving perpetual debt on our children’s children is a bane not a boon to society.

Dark Hearted Contemplation

Gossips can be so harsh in the half truths and complete untruths they attempt to spread and the heartbreak they wish to inflict on those who are innocent in any case.  This is a poem in response to the misdeeds of a handful of such craven people who sought to damage something they cannot, will not and never will…

My Surreal World in Plusia Land -A Negative Face Lies Within

Dark Hearted Contemplation
by Michael Romani

Despite words of dark hearted contemplation
Everyone deserves a chance at redemption
Yet, here I go again as false accusations fly
Feeling lost and alone and wondering why

I walked away from this handful of troubled souls
Realizing these troubles were out of my control
Yet, here again I feel their feeding frenzy
From those who have no true cause for this animosity

It's not enough that they attack me
But they also come to my love with their falsity
I am thankful that she remains believing in me
Yet, remain uncertain as to the why of their dishonesty

It's a hard world filled with cheats and lairs
The jealous and empty the petty despisers
My only wish is to be in peace and left alone
And while no man is an island, this turns my heart to stone

I know that in the end, I am only responsible for me
But, in my code of honor, I must look out for the safety
For those that I love so much more than mere life
And will do what I must to end this uncouth bit of strife

I laid awake all night thinking on their lies
When the truth comes to roost there will be no alibis
Let them squirm under the eyes of every authority
It will serve them right for messing with my integrity

Thought For the Day: The Deepest Glory of Friendship Is the Spiritual Inspiration When You Discover Someone Else Believes In You and Trusts You

“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Delight In the Truth of Sanctuary

Based in part on  Psalms 37:4:

De Wadden - I Love You, Signed God....

Delight In the Truth of Sanctuary
by Michael Romani

Finding happiness in the Lord to find our desires
Keeping our sights on the inspiration of our fire
Gathering the cornerstones of our days of worship
And in this, we find our way to our relationships

Keeping commitment each day to our devotion
Setting and keeping course despite our emotions
We must always keep in mind our need to be servants
And of His great commandments daily be observant

In the building of our lives, we must keep on forward
Keeping in sight the guiding post of light moving toward
All the things that we might come to be and see
Devoted in the steps we make submitting to Divinity

All of life is lived throughout in our all of our seasons
Given love and laughter and chasing all our reasons
And in all of this, maybe we might find our eternity
Such is the truth of the whys of our immortality

All the power of the promises that the Lord has given
Living the life we follow in following His yoke forgiven
Kept framed in the things of righteousness we need
Kept reminded to do what's right by what we read

Always triggered to think in all of our processes begun
To be those who lived righteously when we are done
And to find then the paths that take away the tragic
Moving ever forward toward the only real sort of magic

The end comes to being called into our deepest meaning
Living and loving as we serve in our place of true being
When we live out these plans and our final days come
Let us know that we have served well our father's kingdom

The best of life comes from living our lives rightly
Communing with the love of God shining so brightly
Having tasted the fruits that come from His grace
Knowing that we are fully at home in our Father's embrace

The Arrow Shoots Straight

We can do nothing about our yesterdays.  We cannot do a whole lot about our tomorrows but prepare.  All we are promised and all that we have is this moment we breathe.

Uri Jefferson's Freakshow - Target Practice

The Arrow Shoots Straight
by Michael Romani

We honor the dead
By fighting for the living
Echoes in my head
As I search for forgiving

Too much quiet inside
Makes it hard to survive
A wall of solid pride
Hides the tears of being alive

I miss my brother
Who passed before his time
Brought up in one meaning or another
Melded into the sublime

Turned back with anger
So that you don't see my tears
To myself, often a stranger
Often unfamiliar with the passing years

Dared dragon can breathe fire
When lured out of caves
Though the truest love does inspire
Me to remember that Jesus saves

The arrow shoots straight
Inflicted with my grief
Despite my worse taint
I stand by this belief
