Thought For the Day: The Longest Day Must Have Its Close

“The longest day must have its close — the gloomiest night will wear on to a morning. An eternal, inexorable lapse of moments is ever hurrying the day of the evil to an eternal night, and the night of the just to an eternal day.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe, abolitionist and novelist (14 Jun 1811-1896)

What of the Children?

Sins of the fathers? Matter of karma or fate?  A lost sense of ethical balance?  Children come into this world as blessings and deal with the corruptive influences that are out of their control.   Don’t we owe them so much better?  Don’t we owe ourselves to be better than this?

Children of the World - Keep The Fires Burning

What of the Children?
by Michael Romani

What of a child born with disease
How do we explain this please?
Some might argue from karma and fate
But, to me, this comes too late

In my heart as in my simple mind
It's true; no child should be left behind
The sins of our forefathers have their price
But that doesn't work so well as advice

A beautiful child is born as they are
Each and everyone of them a separate star
Deserving of love and to be very blessed
However found; never second guessed

Each child today is born into toxic pollution
None of these from any decisional contribution
Love of each other should be our studied guide
All systems of belief standing aside

Heart over profit might be the best way out
Tell me is there something better? I doubt
Pharmacological patterns of disturbing corruption
Have led to this body, soul and spirit disruption

Pills for thrills and pills for ill come with bills
All of these results of wastrel ethical spills
Bringing new decided discussions to add to the old
What rot have we and our children been sold?

First Principles: Let Us Trust In God Rather Than Put Confidence In Princes

“To submit and resign their charter would be inconsistent with the main end of their fathers’ coming to New England…. [Although resistance would provoke] great sufferings, [it was] better to suffer than sin. Let them trust in the God of their fathers, which is better than to put confidences in princes. And if they suffer, because they dare not comply with the wills of men against the will of God, they suffer in a good cause.” – Increase Mather (President of Harvard)

Woken Facade

There are times and places filled with spaces when you see there is a lot of darkness behind smiling faces…Sometimes in those places, you make mistakes you wish you could take back and cannot.

SL14B Beguile - Masked: Carnevale di Venezia- Piercing Jester

Woken Façade
by Michael Romani

As if woke from a dream
I have to realize everyone here
Is and was never what they seem
This causes me some fear

Everyone dances behind their façade
As if we and they might mask
Failing themselves and God
And now, I must take myself to task

The Devil is full of so many tricks
Hidden deep behind all of his charm
Time passages slowly tick and tick
While he goes about causing his harm

Dante's Inferno is a very good read
For understanding the levels of deception
My own have caused my soul to bleed
There in that infinite conception

I know that I did that wrong
But, also know that I repent
Knowing where it is that I belong
Hell have no fury, but, please relent

For the love of God show some mercy
I don't think you'll find it heresy
To find we are all prone to make mistakes
Is it ours then to cause each other heartbreak?

Nick of Time

Continuing in my promise to my oldest daughter, this is a poetic retelling of The Twilight Zone, Season 2, Episode 7):

Soul of Colors - Seer's Hand

Nick of Time
by Michael Romani

Traveling somewhere without exact precision
On the outskirts of the twilight dimension
Where a young couple breaks down and is towed
As the telling of their tale begins to unfold

With nothing to do but grab lunch and talk
Hand in hand, the begin to take a walk
Mutually entwined in saving each other's life
He feels very blessed that she is his wife

Slow dancing to a jukebox filled with memory
A happy couple joined together forms a family
When suddenly at their table is a mystic seer
Off just beyond table edge as he pulls her near

Two young honeymooners filled with curiosity
In route to New York City but stuck without pity
He drops his coin in the slot to ask his question
Perhaps, he should have do so with more hesitation

The place is here and the time is close to now
The when and the where that would change somehow
For a penny to look into events yet to come
Questions were answered as they would and then some

Questions ride the penny allowing the subject to be asked
Each of these bringing the man close to his task
Decided in his favor and always apparently on his side
He was filled with polished swagger and bit of pride

Talismans full of luck are stuck on his key chain
Persistence pushed too hard causes its own strains
She is filled with a wife's love and devotion
Extremely proud of her man in his new promotion

Time to kill becomes more pennies to steadily burn
All there is and more from the seer for him to learn
The seer finally answer that something are unknown
That man feels slightly jilted and a bit thrown

The magic answers seem to say they should stay
But the man cannot help but to want to make his play
All of the answers are found to too easily fit
He begins to worry more and more than just a bit

He seeks knowledge in the cause of his superstition
And in his own mind he keeps to form and repetition
So easily finding all his evidence in things evident
Believing his blessings all around are quite provident

Back they go to the café for more and more of the seer
The man is quite trouble by others sitting there
Faith in that particular gizmo holds its sway
As he stresses himself and allows only it to say

Upset in a method of madness, truth sweeps in generality
The loving couple fray beginning to lose conviviality
She sees him as desperate for answers he's ready to find
And becomes less than convince he's not losing his mind

The challenge is raised for her to ask the questions
And while she agrees, she does so with much reservation
So much of perspective it seems depends on point of view
Which can be overly scary especially when it is true

Are you or fate the master that fixes your strands of life
This is the overwhelming question perplexing his wife
Each of us is, to her, the captain of our own soul
It is not something that is dependent on a dice roll

In her tears she wants them to create their own magic
Anything falling sort of that is something too tragic
He falls sad that he has made her start to cry
Together they hope and together form their own reply

There in the counterbalance to dread and simple fear
Slaves to the machine are always destined to stay there
While others still decide to make and pave their own way
Taking charge of their own lives on that magic day

On the Importance of Forgiveness

Turns out that forgiving is the healthy thing to do, not just for others, but for yourself as well:

Serene Heart Community - Seeking Forgiveness

On the Importance of Forgiveness
by Michael Romani

Emotional blockages put us ill at ease
And this manifests itself in physical disease
It's important to free ourselves from the drama
If we're going to get past all of the trauma

Frightened we are as we make this confession
Letting go of the things we hold as possessions
Our hearts communicate with our brains
While the incoherence of stress causes us strain

There in the acidity of our inflammation
We feed the fire often without explanation
Building up inside until we burn our temples down
Realizing this we can turn it all around

Reaching out with love to our innermost child
Who needs so much to feel God's mercy mild
It's at this point of realization that we know
That of our past burdens we can let go

All forgiveness is partly self-forgiveness
It's important to know and to learn to live this
Getting rid of our anger and our jaded animosity
Is key to find the path to our inner serenity

Forgiveness then is the path to finally letting go
And when and as we do, feeling the peace of God's flow
Life is not meant to be a cycle of victimized blame
Holding onto judgments is not how we win life's game

Taking this in its entirety can be soul revealing
Doing this in the name of others gives us healing
Living each day in the moments we are meant to live
Is that pause that we take less and learn to give

Nuzzle and Nudge

Father’s Day is approaching.  Due to lack of funds, I’ve not seen the girls but twice since June 10 of last year.  We won’t even really get into the 73 times that the Court ordered telephonic visitation has been interfered with in this same year.  This seems a gross disparity of justice.  Yet, I love them more than life and always will.

Lea 19 - Art Rocket - Rocket Gates Arrival

Nuzzle and Nudge
by Michael Romani

Scissors, tape and imagination
A box cut cockpit in transformation
She found herself adrift in endless space
Just seconds away from my embrace

My gorgeous interstellar sailor would sail
With moonbeams and fairy dust that prevails
She subsists on chocolate given by her father
As I check in from time to time on my daughter

The things we do for that thing called love
Isn't it one of the best lessons from above
For every cradle that exists there is an altar
On that I dutifully pray at and will not falter

It's in these moments of utmost humanity
When I've managed to set aside my vanity
That I begin to realize all God gave at Calvary
And remember my role is to serve with humility

His death redeemed all his children without artifice
Trending in this manner ready in his sacrifice
We fathers, in turn, offer ourselves in being near
As we give bits of comfort and love truly sincere

Active engagement in nuzzle and playful nudge
Building fortresses of tomorrow that will not budge
This is what God has set out for each of us to do
If you have, then every day is father's day for you
